This is completely navel-gazing, but fuck me, for the life of me, I can't decide. I haven't seen any of these except for the theatrical of Zodiac.

PARADISE LOST.

It's absolutely fascinating.

ETA: In a way it's a cousin to ZODIAC because while the filmmakers aren't able to "solve" the crime, it's startlingly clear who the authorities should be looking at. I'll let you experience that yourself.

I'd say Zodiac just because I really want to see that myself, but when I can't decide what movie to watch.. I always late fate choose. Like just now, I had to pick between Lawrence of Arabia, the Bridge on the River Kwai, and Once Upon a Time in America.

Just lay all those cases down.. close your eyes and mix and flip and toss and spin and shuffle and sort em as fast as you possibly can.. then pick one with your eyes still closed, and stick with it.

Now if you'll excuse me, I've got some Arabianiningingigng to watch

I watched the first half-hour of Paradise Lost a few days back and it was pretty hard to take. The crime scene opener and the creepy-ass stepfather, especially.

I'm thinking Red River, too. I need to watch more Hawks*, anyway. Plus, I'm totally overselling this, but it has Coleen Gray in it and she was the hotness in "Nightmare Alley." I'll go with that.

*One of my favorite "first times" as a filmgoer was watching a laserdisc of Rio Bravo in a tiny, tiny room at college, eating Combos and drinking Dr. Pepper. That's also how I saw "The Killer" and "Hard Boiled."

I thought so. I wikipedia'd it with the E and missed the redirection. No big.

We're talking the original Funny Games, right? The new one isn't out yet?

Yeah, the original. I've watched about 40 minutes of that, too.

Funny games. definitely.

Funny Games. It's a great movie to see, obviously, but an even better movie to talk about.

I'm an idiot for voting Zodiac before I read your post.
Watch something you haven't seen instead.

Apparently he's seen everything, at least partially.

Anyway, Funny Games.

How are we approaching that, by the way? Are we indignant, or are we applauding them for bringing a little known, little seen film to the public's eye?

I voted for Red River because it's the only thing on the list I haven't seen (well, I still haven't seen the Zodiac director's cut, but I've seen more of that then Red River).

Plus I'm reading Zeroville by Steve Erickson right now, and the main character has a tattoo of Monty Clift and Liz Taylor embracing on the back of his bald head. The book refrences a lot of Monty's flicks and I haven't really seen that many of them. So it seemed like a solid (if probably unpopular) choice.

edit: Plus, Funny Games sucks.

I started watching Funny Games at 1 in the morning, and I could only get through the kneecapping before I was like "Fuck, I'm tired and my alarm goes off in four hours." In a weird coincidence, I had much the same reaction that Andre did to the opening of Paradise Lost.

Anyway, I didn't get to any of these last night, but I did start Red River and I think I'm going to continue that in a little bit.

You went with the correct choice in the end.
