I tend to find good DVD buys at the local gamestop because they allow people to trade in them for store credit. I also tend to browse the local rental stores for used DVDs. Occasionally I find some good deals like a Criterion DVD of Tokyo Drifter for $5.

The problem? They are often without their original boxes. I have plenty of blank DVD cases but I am at a loss as to where to look for DVD box art scans. I've found plenty of video game box art sites but no DVD ones.

Could someone point me to a site? I have a feeling that I am using the wrong search terms on Google, because so far I've found nada...

There used to be a bunch of them, but then I think the studios had them all shut down. Weary of bootleggers I guess.

Shhhhh!

You're going to give BobClark ideas on how to skip the entire "throw away the cases" step in his collection process.

I finally found a website that had a scan of the front and back covers of Tokyo Drifter. I couldn't find any picture of the the dvd case's spine so I just photoshopped in what I thought it might look like. What I ended up with appears pretty good on the shelf even though I couldn't stop my printer from cropping the edges of the image.

As I was looking over my dvd collection last night it kind of struck me how eclectic my selection has become. Since I want to become a screenwriter (among other things) I have gotten into the habit of not only buying good films but also bad ones that fall into the genre I intend to write in. Just to study them and figure out why the story is so bad. Which is why Hellbound: Hellraiser II is the neighbor of Heathers and Night at the Museum sits proudly next to Night of the Hunter.
