Looks better than the other one coming out.

This is the most underrated game of all time, bar none. While other games from the NES era became huge franchises that continue to this day, Bionic Commando slipped under the radar for reasons unknown. While Mario was busy trying to save an ugly girl over and over, Simon Belmont kept failing miserably to kill one vampire, and Mega Mankept finding ways to let Doc Brown escape, the Bionic Commando was killing fucking HITLER! Throw in some truly inspired gameplay (it was thrilling to be hurtling through the air towards a pit of lava, knowing that only a perfectly timed grapple was going to save your ass), and you have my favorite game of the entire NES era (and as a little kid with way too much free time, I played nearly all of em - even the blue cartridges!)

This will be my virgin LIVE Arcade purchase. Be gentle, Bionic Joe!

Man, this is great. And I love that they incorporated co-op. I love 2D games that bring back that nostalgic feeling of yelling at the other player for jumping ahead and killing you via level, like Contra. Let's hope they include the original; that sucker was tough!
I remember that the NES version only HINTED at the enemies being Nazis.
I wonder if this version is going to come right out and say that they are Nazis.

Anyways, it look like another great XBOX Live Arcade game.

Can't wait for this.
We love you Capcom. Oh yes we do.

Still no jump button. What drove me mad as a youngster, I now find strangely endearing.
Seriously, I want to make sweet, sweet love to that game. I'm now many times more psyched for the remake than the new original game. This is one of my all-time favorites and I still love to play it.

As I recall, this Rearmed game was actually in development before the new game but the higher-ups at Capcom were so impressed with it that they gave the guy making it the go-ahead on the completely new game as well. I seem to remember reading that from an old Quartermann archive like a year ago or something.

I was afraid that the revamp wouldn't happen though because of the full game. I'm glad to see it hasn't. Plus, judging by the trailer, it looks like if you have the PSN/XBLA arcade game, you get a bonus skin in the new game and won't have to play as the guy they've been showing in the other trailers.

Anyway, I am going to go watch this trailer a few more times. Let's just hope that whoever is playing co-op with me doesn't mind sitting in that section of the first level for an hour collecting power-ups as guys parachute down.

I always loved that it forced you to use the new mechanic. There were lots of ways you could have played it by just jumping but by taking that away they forced you to actually get good with the grappling hook.
This looks great. I kind of wish Capcom had based this on the arcade version of Bionic Commando and simply given the 2D graphics an HD makeover, like they're doing with Street Fighter 2, but that's an incredibly minor complaint. What they do have looks great, and I'm hoping this is on par with the Prince of Persia remake that hit XBLA last year.
Too fucking cool. Tag teaming this one could be a whole lotta fun. I have to admit that I had a horrifying flashback when they showed that classic intro. I don't think I ever made it past the first couple levels.

As far as the Nazi thing goes, they may be pushing it a little more this time. Anyone notice the Nazi eagle-looking flag?

ETA: bad spellun.
I hope they keep the badly-translated English, or at least throw in an homage or two. "Get the heck out of here, you NERD!"
Oh. Hells. Yes.
Bionic Commando was one of the first NES games I actually sat down and beat. It got really tricky towards the end, though, but blowing up Hitler was worth it (and seeing the first swear word I'd seen in a video game)--still the best video-game-based Hitler murder; way better than Wolfenstein 3d.

This new version looks really great and I'd say it's a definite download.
I still enjoy going on the vNES site and playing this. This is going to be great.

As a side note, did anyone else predict that XBLA would be as successful as it has been?

Dude, if you had told me that this generation of consoles, I'd be backing up Micro-fucking-soft over Sony, I would've kidney punched you. The fact that I have no complaints (no three rings yet! knock on wood) is astounding and they've been aces. XBLA deserves its success.

I can't wait to see a slick new animation of Hitler's head exploding!

For old times sake:

I actually learned who Hitler was because of Bionic Commando.

It´s way too awesome! I wish they did more of this. I´d kill for a good Ghost n' Goblins in nice 3d graphics.

On a side note, there has been an increased amount of games related Articles on CHUD and i love it. Keep it up!
So, you want Ghost n' Goblins to rape us all again, if only better looking this time?....Im in.
Also, cant wait for this game and the new Bionic Commando; now, if only Capcom gave us a third Strider title and remakes of the previous 2 games in that series....that or the Marvel Vs Capcom fighting series on live.
Some Bionic Commando trivia that I sadly know off the top of my head--

The enemies really were the Nazis in the original Japanese release, but were changed to the "Badds" for the US version, and Hitler to "Master-D".
Shit damn, this looks awesome. So, $5 or $10? Or will it be a special $15?
Mighty FUCK! Probably my favorite NES game! This is gonna be great! And I know because I played it again with VNES and it wasn't just a walk down nostalgia lane, it's really a great game.

My only complaint has always been that once you get the rocket launcher you never need to use another weapon.

EDIT: I'm besides myself about this (and the news about a new XCOM game)but I still haven't seen the new trailer because it just won't load.

This looks fucking amazing, too bad I don't have a 360 yet. Hopefully Capcom will at least put the original on the Wii VC soon.

All over this one. Is it me or is Hitler shirtless in that graphic?

Well, he just came out of a cloning tank. Be thankful he was wearing pants, at least.
A couple new movies from Rearmed and the new game. There's something about the haze in Rearmed that seems kind of off-putting.

Also, the new game looks great but doesn't really seem like a lot of fun. If you're not spending 90% of the game abusing the bionic arm, you're doing it wrong.
According to Kotaku, thanks to the file size limits on the XBLA the 360 version of this won't be using high def graphics, or at least as high def as the PS3 or PC versions. Stupid file size limits.
I know I read it somewhere before, but what's the purpose behind the 150MB limit again?
The Core/Arcade systems only have at most a 256MB memory card. They want to make sure that games will fit on that.

Back when the 360 first came out and the biggest memory card size was 64MB, the limit was actually only 50MB. When they introduced the larger memory card they raised the file size to 150MB.
While I'm anticipating this games' release, I have to say that after my first viewing of in-game play I'm a bit let down. The gunplay looks absolutely boring and the draw of using the arm made me think of a half-assed Spider-Man engine. It looks fun but suddenly it looks a bit bleak.
Buy a hard drive, assholes.
What the fuck are you talking about? It has nothing to with buying a Hard Drive but everything to do with Microsoft and their stupid fucking mission to not utilize the hard drives that the majority of us have. Either way I'll be picking this game up for the PS3 now.
Since the Arcade system comes with that 256MB memory card, why not push that arbitrary 150MB limit for Arcade games up to 250? That way, people who don't want a hard drive can still buy Arcade games, they just have to buy a new memory card each time they want one of these bigger Arcade games.
Who can really say why MS does whatever it is they do. You'd think if more games made the HD a requirement MS would make a bunch of money off all of the people who had to go out and buy it (especially considering how much they overcharge for ALL of their accessories).

A 512 is what, 50 bucks? So if you go and buy SF II HD and Bionic Commando (this is the hypothetical situation where they're not neutered). That's pretty much one memory card taken up. So you're going to spend another 50 bucks on another memory card when what you should have done is spend the 100 bucks on a 20 GB hard drive.

So yeah, buy a hard drive, assholes.

The truth is though, it's not that companies are choosing NOT to release games over 150MB or even 250MB. Instead, it's a requirement of MS that no XBLA game be above that size. So instead of being able to see what kind of sales hit they use for making the game potentially unavailable to some Core buyers, MS eliminates even that option.

This isn't the Core owners fault for not buying a hard drive, it's MS fault for selling a model without a hard drive and not allowing companies that create games for their system to require a hard drive.
Microsoft is pretty dumb for introducing that model, but I have no sympathy for people that buy core units unless you bought it just to play Scene It or something. If you bought a core and had an interest in playing original Xbox games or XBLA games, you're a retard. You're spending 300 bucks on a gaming system. Do some fucking research.

Again, NOT THEIR FAULT. If you buy the cheaper model and get screwed over for it, ok that sucks but you just have to spend a little more and it won't be an issue. I understand why you bought it, it was the cheapest model and at points the only one available.

The trouble is, Microsoft doesn't create these limits because people were bitching that they couldn't download games. They created them before that. And as a result of their desire to not make the 'tard pack (which they choose to manufacture and sell) automatically crippled, they create a pointless requirement on XBLA downloads. The only people you could possibly be blaming here would be MS. They made the system, the requirements, the development tools, the marketplace. They control ALL of it. So blame them, not the stupid people who bought the lowest system.
I still have a rough time believing anyone out there, even those who bought the bare systems, don't have a hard drive. Hell, I have the 20GB and now the 120GB (thanks a lot, Rock Band). I need to hoc my other one.

I wouldn't be surprised if people who started off with the Core or Arcade, later went looking for a HDD but then said "$100 for 20GB? $180 for 120GB? Really?" I know I recently decided to bite the bullet and upgrade to 120GB (Rock Band), but apparently I was living in a fantasy world because I reasoned it would be worth the $120. I had forgotten it was $180, I guess.
Well, this game is delayed some thanks to bugs, but as a consolation the soundtrack is now up for purchase on iTunes or MP3 format here.

I'm still really anticipating this release and am bummed that it's getting pushed back.
I'm at Capcom's press event now, and while the thing properly begins this morning, I played some of BC Rearms last night, as well as the new Bionic Commando and the redux of 1942. Loved the latter and Rearms, and the new BC has some great stuff going for it, too.

More in a couple days when they lift the embargo on interviews, etc.
I didn't know they were doing 1942! Great news!
Gametrailers has posted the last of their feature looks at the game:
http://www.gametrailers.com/player/38052.html
All i have to say is: "4 player deathmaches in a "only falling down can kill you" mode.
YES.
Just one more week till it hits, people!
I know, I'm so excited this is finally coming out. Hopefully the changes they've made won't make it feel like a completely different game.
I got a good laugh out of that co-op asskicking that was being dished out, complete with ricocheting bullets. And yes, "Don't touch the water" mode should be a great time.

I saw a few new areas that the developer docs didn't show, but it requires suffering through the Japanese sing-a-long trailer. Oy.

"cock in you, cock in you!"
