A Nice Hard Slap - Nick's Daily Blog - Page 7

More than once I've found myself in situations where I'm trying to help people with something I have no real working knowledge of. It's difficult because you don't want to say something that ends up being more damaging than had you said nothing at all.

Oh, and I can definitely relate to the 'skeptical of most' thing.

Those cops should get less alive.

Why is no one addressing the gigaton bombshell that Nick might be moving out west? I feel like I just discovered an easter egg.

"On the verge of heading West ..."
Nick is always on the verge of doing a lot of things.

I didn't take is as moving, but as opening Grizzly Park and maybe getting new projects off the ground.

I have an apartment lined up.

Well, it was about getting to the point where I could come up to Atlanta and meet some chewers, so it was inevitable for them to start flocking away.

EDIT: Post 700

But are you moving Nick?
or would you maintain an apartment there just to go to meetings and work stuff from time to time?

Reality is two or three rooms in a house shared with another [albeit great] person and no surplus of whores or Bierko.

I plan on a longer period of total immersion.

Hate on ham?!? The most perfect of meats? Wow. With my family, turkey was always considered the side meat for the "big" holidays. Always plenty leftover turkey. Ham? Always wiped out.

Now off to eat my lunch. A ham sandwich.
Store bought ham sucks.
That it does Billy, but Honeybaked does a good ham. Ever try to eat a piece of the sugar glaze? I swear I went into a brief diabetic coma.
I haven't tried Honeybaked in a while. But I remember it being delicious.

Put that shit in your boobs. It sucks.
The talkbacks, in this particular instance, were awesome.

Ham? Absolutely sucks. I'm headed down to NJ to spend Easter with the family, and three guesses what we're having, and the first two don't count. Ham. And my mom gets all, "It's spiral cut! And we're glazing it with brown sugar!" Which automatically makes me feel like asking her, "Wait, I'm sorry - I thought you wanted me to come visit for Easter. That's the fastest way to make me stay in Queens."
Is it just ham that you hate on from the glorious meat known as pork? Do pork chops, bacon, pork loin and sausage get equally hated?
Nope - actually, I love all other porky-pig products. But ham blows.

You're telling me you eat scrapple? Yick.

How about pig feet? Pig snout?

and ham hocks? (even I have my limits).
Actually, I do like scrapple. Hocks, snout, feet - never tried 'em. Don't care to. But you know, your basic stuff that you find in the meat section of your average, boring supermarket is fine by me - except for ham.
I now have the urge to carve a fuckhole into a ham and go to town. Thanks for singlehandedly ruining my remaining shred of dignity, Nick.

Sure, but holidays are where everyone's schedules are definitely going to line up. We ain't all self-employed Weblords on our own clocks.

Having said that, I'm spending Easter with my wife going to the movies and not calling or visiting anyone. Awesome.

My immediate family lives in a ten mile circle. We don't need fancypants scheduling to get together.

And there's a reason you all aren't self-employed "weblords".
Well, I'm personally taking 5 days off to visit my family at my home town near the beach. Still great weather and i haven't seen them in months, so i am loving Easter.

Well, if you live that close and legitimately want to see them, who gives a fuck if they're all wearing pastels and giant hats one Sunday? I guess the prayer circle shit might be off-putting, but the bulk of things I've been asked to do for family involves my checkbook, so I'll stare at my shoes while a loved one talks to their imaginary friend, no problem.

Because nobody does it better? Makes you feel sad for the rest? Or because it's a gigantic ball-ache?
Yeah, don't get me wrong - the best part about the coming weekend is getting to see my family, who are weird, but I adore them. I just wish we were exploring other meal options.
Our food options tend to go with Fish.

We are friends with the owner of a great sea food restaurant down the beach, so we usually go all together and have a big ass family lunch eating all kinds of fish. Good times.
Jealous. Why can't we have fish?
Cause Easter's all about the ham? I wonder how the ham got linked with Easter? Some English thing perhaps?
I always assumed it was a big F-U to the jews.

I'm with the ham-haters. For some reason covering good pork with some sugar-based glaze really grosses me out.

I'll take my pork salty, thank you very much.
I say prime rib outranks Ham, what say you fellow message board posters?
BEEF. It's what's for dinner.

(Seriously. I just checked with my wife.)

Prime Rib is awesome.
Ham is terrible. It has this cheap saltiness about it that makes me feel like I'm putting lunchlady thigh in my mouth.
Nick must be swelling with pride. His personal missive on his thoughts on Easter have resulted in a giant back and forth....

..about ham.

This is the longest discussion about ham I've been privy to since I got banned from the Jimmy Dean boards.

Look man, I don't want to know what strange shit went down in New Mexico public schools but you can't be grossing out with such things.
