New Beverly Schedule (Commando at midnight!)

Paging Moltisanti, Paging Moltisanti

The New Beverly Cinema has their schedule up for the next month or so and within that time. A midnight showing of Commando is on February 23. I'll be on vacation but for anybody else this might be the chance to see John Matrix on the big screen.

The New Beverly's other upcoming films can be found here

The Eli Roth Festival is in there.
I haven't seen a lineup like that since the old UC Theatre in the early '90s. Awesome.
The Searchers and Rio Bravo two-fer? I'm fucking there.
Is "The Funhouse" any good?
Silent Running and The Omega Man tonight. Who's going?
Unless someone can open a side door for me, I fucking wish.

I am. But I might only be able to make the later of the two.

Sorry I couldn't go, but you do know the New Bev's double features are for the grand price of $7, right? (Cash only)
is this any good i never been there before
post #11 of 143
Is what any good? It's a theatre and it successfully shows films, so, yeah, it's good.

Pretty good turkey dogs also.

Pieces is re-running on Saturday. Alas, it's replacing Caddyshack. Still, more Pieces.

Bachelor Party followed by Pieces? That's a jarring tone shift.

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford is playing tomorrow and Saturday. I'm in town til Wed. I might have to go see this.
I'm holding out for the Tuesday night showing of Crocadile! myself.

As much as I love this movie, the NewBev isn't really the best venue for watching it.
I think the event dictates the crowd. I saw the pre-code potboiler Night Nurse there and the crowd was enjoying it, but not making jackasses of themselves.

Unless you're talking about the seats or something.

Phil, I might be able to show up on Saturday. Let me know if you plan on swinging it and we can hang for the showing, if you wish.

Seats, screen, and sound system.

There's the Stallone double feature of Rambo/Rocky Balboa next week but I'm set for the Blade Runner screening at Warner Bros so I don't know about that one.

I'm going to have to play it by ear (shooting all day in Camarillo), but if I'm able to give you any warning I will.

Not the New Beverly, but I saw Aliens Friday at the Fairfax Regency theater. It was not without its hiccups, but they seem to have some good runnings, for a midnight program not funded by Tarantino and Roth.
Damn. I thought Aliens was this week. It's kind of annoying that Andrew started getting the really good stuff for the midnight shows after he stopped doing them in Westlake. I can't afford to make the trek out to Fairfax almost every friday night.

Xanadu? Jesus. (For some reason I actually saw Olivia Newton John sing that song live. Don't ask how.)

A Thank you for smoking/Stripes double feature eh? That's certainly worthy of consideration
post #28 of 143
Well, July 18 and 19 look pretty sexy.
RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD and FEAST double-feature this Wednesday and Thursday. Pretty psyched to see RotLD on the big screen.

And I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Clu Gallagher will be in attendance. So there's that.
Since it's part of the Clu Gulagher festival, I'm pretty sure he'll be there.
We had RotLD run here in Atlanta a couple months ago. It was a fantastic time on screen. We didn't have the best print, but it was still a blast. GO.

Oh shit, I didn't even know. That's awesome.
Yeah, two nights of those, and then The Killers and Last Picture Show.
The Killers is an exciting one. And it's a new print. Damn it.

How awesome is The Killers? It has Lee Marvin and Norman fell. And Spoiler! Ronald Reagan and John Cassavetes get into a fistfight. That awesome. If you live in LA, you have 90 minutes.
I don't know why I keep subscribing to this thread. It just makes me jealous.

However, if any of you folks are in Northern California, why not swing by my neighborhood and the Piedmont Cinema? We've got a weekend midnight series starting up on Sep 19, with Princess Bride, Blade Runner- Final Cut (last chance to see this in theatres for a while), Pee-wee's Big Adventure, RoboCop, The Dark Crystal, The Shining, Pulp Fiction, and the requisite 3-D porn Lollipop Girls.

And then, a long vacation for yours truly.

The New Beverly Cinema is extremely pleased to present the next in our guest programmer series, legendary director

PETER BOGDANOVICH

director of The Last Picture Show, Paper Moon, Noises Off, Mask, Cat's Meow and many many more.

Peter's festival will run January 21-31, and will include some of his films, as well as films that have inspired him. Peter will be in attendance for some performances, schedule permitting.
Bogdanovich knows his stuff. This is going to be cool.

Back to Back to Back to the Future on May 29 and 30.
Phil Bankenship's got a week planned. We talked about it today. Clu Gulager triple feature. Heavenly Bodies and Hardbodies. Turk 182 and 3:15: Moment of Truth. Should be bangin'.
Don't forget Joysticks and The Wizard as one hell of a gaming double feature

Gleaming the Cube-Midnight

Be there.

June 4th

Under Siege & The Taking of Beverly Hills

Someone ought to call Molt. He should make a pilgrimage.
Don't Forget "Friday the 13th" parts 4-6 on June 5th.
Definitely want to check out The Duellists in June. Never seen that. Ditto the Bronson double feature in a couple of weeks.
I feel like such an event deserves its own thread, but since this one is already here: This Friday and Saturday Back to Back to Back to the Future (or the Back to the Future marathon as they are unimaginatively calling it). Chris Lloyd may show up Friday. Jennifer #1 is supposed to be there as well (but who gives a shit.)

I don't think I could sit through all three films, but I tell ya. Gleaming the Cube on Saturday was aces.
You're clearly weak and pathetic.

George #2 will be there as well. All we need now is Clock Tower Lady or Newscaster Lady for the irrelevant trifecta.

Want to sit in broken seats for six hours. Be my guest.
