Well, the original thread I started appears to have been swallowed whole in the revamp, which makes me very sad, as there was a lot of great stuff in there. Hopefully, we can rebuild the sucker here, or at least resume the discussion.
My second screenplay is giving me an ulcer. I've gotten to the point where I've jotted down every scene on 3x5 cards, but the actual writing is flummoxing me. I think the problem may be that it's such a strange idea that I can't picture the actual movie in my head. As odd as my first story may be, it was still basically a horror movie, and I could clearly see it.
My question for you guys is this: would it be better to push through my issues and force the thing out, or shelve what I've got for the time being, and start up something else? I've never quite had this problem before.
Edit:
A reminder, or for new readers, a clarification: my first screenplay grew out of the concept of a serial killer hunting vampires. In the writing, of course, it morphed into something a little more complex than that basic germ, but the idea is still there. Though some large ideas grew out of it, they remained mostly off-screen, and it wound up staying a fairly small, intimate affair, and was something I could easily see in my mind's eye. The new story is considerably more epic, large-scale, potentially bank-breaking, and rather odd, mixing comedy and large-scale action in a way that I don't think I've seen much. Ghostbusters comes to mind.
