Yeah, I was more clean than the others, but I only did commercial roofing, anyway. Less stress when you're over a warehouse than over someone's home.
Propane tank story- not fired, but I still get heckled for it. Think it was my first or second day on the job. I'm bringing a 50 pound propane tank up the ladder, not knowing what the fuck I'm doing. I'm scared enough going up the damn thing but with the weight on my shoulder my legs were literally shaking, even going one step at a time. Along comes a gust of wind that pulls at the tank, wrenching my arm, and in my fear of falling I just let it go. I had a split second to see the look on one of my co-worker's faces who was holding the ladder on the roof as I did it... it was the same kinda "Ohhhhhh....nooooooooo" look that happens before someone gets blown up by a grenade in a movie.
It hit the concrete on its bottom, thankfully, which means it didn't break and explode. It hit the ground hard enough to crack the (new) concrete on the sidewalk, though.
And then I look out further and see that my boss has just gotten to work, along with the owner of the building.
Fun day. Eventually I got used to going up and down that ladder with no problem at all (although let me tell you, when you have to jump up onto the edge of a roof in order to get on the ladder for the first time, it's bowel-shaking) but quit the job a few months later when the summer was done.
