Back into the fray- http://chud.com/articles/blogs/337/B...-the-fray.html

I'm going to have to get some serious playtime in that Beta in so I have a leg up in case there's a competition again....

The jet-setting life of a CHUD reviewer, man. Find someone at EA who helped with Rock Band and give them a hug for me.

Back to EA again. EA again. http://chud.com/articles/blogs/350/B...-EA-again.html

(You need a posse the size of the Nazis to attack this)

Also forgot to mention how I totally stomped on some dude's foot who was sitting behind me on the plane. He was either trying to play footsie with me or just had abnormally large legs that kept creeping under my chair and hitting my bag, so I "accidentally" brought my heel down on his toes. Twice. Got a good yelp out of him the second time.
They charge you for the meals on the plane now?

Ask them about the Take 2 take over! I got stock on the line there!

Didn't visit Historic Downtown Orlando? You didn't miss anything. Citywalk and Pleasure Island are about the only worthwhile things to check out. If you come down again Busch Gardens is a good park and for bars, Ybor City is a better place to check out (although once again they are more touristy).

Funny, I heard the same thing about downtown from a few locals. Oh well. Thanks for the advice!

Today- talking bout GTA IV, of course- http://chud.com/articles/blogs/375/G...York-City.html

Glad you're okay, Alex! You still should have shown those punks how NYers handle being shot. Or, brought Overlord with you to show them how Detroiters handle NYers being shot - that would have been even scarier!

Getting real crowded around these parts, lately.

Some thoughts on A Bucket of Blood- http://chud.com/articles/blogs/507/A...ck-Miller.html
post #64 of 179

Dick Miller fans unite

It's funny. I was just writing an article about my favorite children's movies, and two of the films were Gremlins and Explorers and made sure to mention the factor of awesome is raised every time Dick Miller is inserted into a film.

Every film could benefit from it. Plus Bucket of Blood is just fantastic old school Corman.

Yeah, I'm a little embarrassed to even admit it, especially since I love the other films he made from Griffith's scripts (Death Race, Little Shop of Horrors, etc.)

But agreed on the Miller. He makes any film better... always has a memorable role.

Don't tell nobody, but he has the Star of Astoroth!

I'd like to hear to propane tank story. Did you get heckled forever or fired?

I hope you were a relatively tidy roofer. We had the roof redone on our house as part of the buy-sell. That was five years ago. I'm STILL finding staples and scraps of shingle all over the place.

Yeah, I was more clean than the others, but I only did commercial roofing, anyway. Less stress when you're over a warehouse than over someone's home.

Propane tank story- not fired, but I still get heckled for it. Think it was my first or second day on the job. I'm bringing a 50 pound propane tank up the ladder, not knowing what the fuck I'm doing. I'm scared enough going up the damn thing but with the weight on my shoulder my legs were literally shaking, even going one step at a time. Along comes a gust of wind that pulls at the tank, wrenching my arm, and in my fear of falling I just let it go. I had a split second to see the look on one of my co-worker's faces who was holding the ladder on the roof as I did it... it was the same kinda "Ohhhhhh....nooooooooo" look that happens before someone gets blown up by a grenade in a movie.

It hit the concrete on its bottom, thankfully, which means it didn't break and explode. It hit the ground hard enough to crack the (new) concrete on the sidewalk, though.

And then I look out further and see that my boss has just gotten to work, along with the owner of the building.

Fun day. Eventually I got used to going up and down that ladder with no problem at all (although let me tell you, when you have to jump up onto the edge of a roof in order to get on the ladder for the first time, it's bowel-shaking) but quit the job a few months later when the summer was done.

Fuck that. I have a single-level house and I can barely handle stepping onto the ladder directly from the roof.

Regretfully I'm not familiar with the Diceman's comedic oeuvre.

"What is your name, Neil and Bob, or is that what you do, eggagaahhhaayyy!!!"

Well, it made me laugh as a kid. And he reused it in Ford Fairlane. Such an unappreciated film....

I used to do this kind of shit all the time when I worked in a travel agency.

I didn't even bother using real names. It was just funny to have the airlines call back and confirm the reservations for:

Don Phukwittmi

Stu Bedbisch

Sujmai Deek

Dick Enbolls

And even stupider stuff that didn't make any sense.

Like: Michael Dividividividividividividividicenti

...
Probably wouldn't work in a bar. But that's the juvenile thing you do when you work in a travel agency and watch jackoffs fly off to Tahiti every weekend while you're still stuck in fuckin' Jackson Heights.

Yeah, it's hard when it's only first names. I really need some more friends with weird names for this to work. Possibly a couple Leias and a Heywood.

Instead of sleeping before my flight I'm writing about silly scifi flicks- http://chud.com/articles/blogs/902/I...ter-Space.html

I'm on bass, actually.... I deferred guitar to Dev after getting destroyed by him in a few online matches a couple months ago. Kinda boring on Tangled Up In Blue (very repetitive bass line), but it's still a fun song.
