Best Buy phasing out HD-DVD - Page 2

It seems like Amazon has ROCK-BOTTOM (echo! echo!) prices for both BR and HD discs. I see a $14.95 HD Shawn of the Dead, and a $14.95 BR Road Warrior. Holy Shit!

Minsky I got Casino Royale for $13 and 5th Element for $10, on BD. Gotta love chirstmas, and other people who search the net for deals 24/7.

Here's the Amazon.com HD-DVD 50% off link.

EDIT: On another funny note, I like the listing of the "star" of the movie that's under the DVD. Sometimes, you'll see "Pierce Brosnan" under "Dante's Peak" or "John Belushi" under "Animal House", but it's the others that are great. Like these:

Sahara -- Jude Akuwidike
Being John Malkovich -- Orson Bean
The Rundown -- Ernie Reyes Jr.
Born on the Fourth of July -- Seth Allen
The Manchurian Candidate -- Jeffery Wright
Army of Darkness -- Ian Abercrombie
Elizabeth -- Fanny Ardent

Don't deny Erinie Ryes Jr! He could surf and ninja at the same time. TALENT!

Someone must have finally checked their inbox. Went to Best Buy to get Darjeeling Limited and the Blu-Ray's have switched places with the HD-DVDs so the format winner is now the first thing you see when you walk in. Besides that there is also an additional island showcasing Blu-Ray discs right near customer service.

Just came down another $5.

If anyone has a Hastings nearby, they lowered the prices on the non-combo HD-DVDs to $13.99, and are selling off the rental copies pretty cheap. The selection at my store was pretty blah though.

Got a Hastings here and I picked up "Superman Returns", "King Kong" and "Smokey and the Bandit" were $14.99!

The Best Buy here has yet to lower their HD prices. "Blade Runner" and "2001" are still close to $30.

Go to amazon. 2001 is 15.99 or thereabouts, and Blade Runner is, I think, around $25.

I'm really pissed I don't get an I Am Legend HD-DVD Tuesday. I mean, the discs were probably made and everything. It's a shame they didn't go ahead and sell them.

The fire sales are starting, but I won't bite until they reach $10 a pop or less.
Then I'll probably just pick up titles I don't have already.

I'm pretty much out of the HD game at this point. I'm not gonna pay $400 to go Blu, and I just don't have enough free time to play that many games to warrant a PS3 purchase.

Really sucks.

Best Buy will now give you a $50 gift card if you bought an HD-DVD player from them before Feb. 23. They're also supposed to start accepting HD-DVD players on their online trade-in center for additional credit. Not bad for the folks that got theirs during the holiday fire sale.
Do you have a link for that? I have friends that would probably take that deal.

Speaking of HD-DVD, Video Business is also reporting that at least one L.A. area Best Buy store has now cleared out all of its HD-DVD software inventory. In fact, several Best Buy staffers have informed us here at The Bits that all Best Buy store locations nationwide were ordered to return their remaining unsold HD-DVD inventory, effective yesterday.

Circuit City botched their HD-DVD sale hard. Expect 50% off the MSRP which wasn't advertised. If you make a big enough stink, they'll honor what they actually printed in the ad.

I was gonna pop in today and see what's what. Now I might not even bother. I'll gladly drop $15 or so on Into The Wild or something headache-free, But I'm not in a haggling mood.

You'd be better off going to Amazon or somewhere else. The site and the brick and mortar stores weren't ready for shit.

They did a Wal-Mart bin dump and jacked everything up to MSRP. In the case of the Weinstein Company stuff, way past MSRP.

Avoid it all costs and just pick up the discs that these assholes are forced to dump on Amazon or other warehouses.

Got my new Columbia House DVD Club thing in the mail today. For the first time ever, they have a section for HD-DVDs. They're selling them for $29.96, While Supplies Last! Little late to the game fellas. Clueless morons.

I was over at the Fry's Electronics in Anaheim here in Cali and they still have some HD-DVD discs on the shelves. They had some decent prices on them from $10-$20. If you are looking and in the area, maybe drop by.

The BR discs are still too damn pricey, but I'm just being picky right now about what I buy.
