Montreal Chewers: The Gathering

Nope, it's not a card game invitation. Since there's a couple of us on the boards, how about some informal gathering with beer and food and so on?

Say, mid-February, downtown Montreal since it's always easier going there. A week night (Thursday sounds like the easy choice) would facilitate things, as some have a family.

Any suggestions?

Champs for a Habs game?

It's tough to beat that.
I'd beat that with a pole, being a Leafs fan and all. Ah fuck it, we're going nowhere, I'll drink with you guys. When are where? Reading week is Feb 22, and I've got exams before, but this could definitely work.

I was thinking of the 21st, as the 14th will likely make us lose a testicle for skipping the Valentine day or 29th if you guys aren't available.

Chris, can we make reservations at Champs?
Can't do the weekend of the 21st, I have birthday parties and such, and I'll be out of town until early March. What about the 16th or 17th? I'm freeish before and after.

We were thinking of a Thursday night. Free on one of these?
I could probably make it for part of the second period after work.

Alright, the 28th it is.

To you from T.O. hands I throw the torch...

Heh, next time ( I'll have to try to crunch one in March before the spawn come out...)

And beside, it saves us the trouble of beating your Leaf's ass to pulp!
How about March 6th? Vs. The Coyotes?

It's a Thursday. I called Champs and they's ready for the reservation.

Sure, but the game starts at 9PM, just so you know. I'm young and full of energy, but what about you, old man?
So, is it the 6th?
Thread Starter
Yep. Chris will reserve for 4, at 8 or so, since the game is in Phoenix, and starting at 9.
Good, this means I should be in for the whole game.

If I don't respond, please PM me. Since the site change, I'm not getting my updates normally. I had to manually check this thread to see there had been some posts with a new date.

If the stars are aligned, we'll get a Big Tits hat trick.

I'm there!! Not too many drinks though. Exams and all.

I have an idea for another time: What if we went to catch a flick at Cinema du Parc and then talked about it over beers? I bet you guys would be far better conversation than most of my friends.

Fuckin Leaf fan. Of course you want to leave early.

The du Parc thing isn't a bad idea. As long as we go somewhere afterwards to talk about the film. Last time I went there was last year to see Badlands.

Kiss my bruised blue-and-white ass. And yeah, watching the velveteen habbits play Gretzky's AHL team is not my ideal mathcup. But I like beer, and I like talking about stuff, so I'm there. (I would rather not admit how much Habs hockey I've seen this year, and how great Plekanec and the Kostitsyns are looking)

The Du Parc option is a nice one, and we'll have to go with that next. But, since we're in Montreal, the priorities are respected.

Hockey first, the rest after.

And Grey, a Leaf's fan attack on the Habs is like a former Expos fan bitching against the Yankees. It's DOES NOT MATTER.

We are set for a reservation at Champs on St. Laurent. Time: 7:00pm "sharp" (as the guy on the phone said), under the name "Read". Table of FIVE (in case someone wanted to join at the somewhat last minute) but I need to confirm the number the day of, so whoever cacks out is getting it in the shitter.

Well, I'm obviously in.

Where is Champs for us dirty francophones from the East?

3956 St-Laurent, near Duluth. It's probably the best choice, the other being La Cage aux Sports...
Fuck La Cage.

EDIT: I think I know where Champs is. I used to live near that adress.
I'm really looking forward to meeting you clownshoes.
I'll be the one looking stressed and in desperate need of a drink.

I may mosey on in.
I'll be wearing my red Komisarek t-shirt.

Hey, there's more than 4 of us!!!! But you should still RSVP as soon as you can. Cuz the Champ's manager is gonna break you faster than Ivan Drago ever could.

And I'll be the one looking angry.
Ok, I'm the suck bag this time. My sitter cacked at the last minute (well, this morning) so I'm not going to be able to make it tonight, but NEXT week I'm good, 'cause my wife will be able to watch the kiddums. SO, should I book for next week vs. the Senators? It'll be a better game anyway...

I'd be up for that, just because the game was at 9.

I've PMed Gray and Alexor.

But choke one more time and I'll make you listen to the entire Celine Dion dance CD.

You say that like I should feel threatened. I'm listening to "I Drove All Night" as I type this. I'll be the first to admit that I love a good 14 lbs French-Canadian woman who was raped repeatedly by a fucking pajama-wearing troll as a child.

And if you don't, you're simply not a man.

My father's cousin was married to Claudette Dion. So the whole family visited mine when I was like...9 months old or something. And Celine, who was apparently like 16, shy and all, was already with her pimp. Celine took my poor innocence away when when cradled me.

And the family confirmed that her mother really is buttfuck crazy, and that she can't cook an egg, which makes her cooking show all the more hilarious.

The cousin divorced the bitch, but not before these horribles events happened.
I'm Tainted.

She's hot Martin. Come on. The fist pumping, the accent, the negative weight. Come on. The Jim Eisenriech hook nose? I just came.

Hey, what can I say? I'm a sucker for being able to see the outline of my ring when I'm fisting my ladies.
So... I'm putting it out there. Next Thursday... Habs vs. Senators. In MTL to boot. Game time is 7:30pm. I'll make the reservation at Champs. Let's get a "not gonna bail" show of hands.

First Round is on me, kids.

Graynadian has to study, or so he said. He didn't quite get the point that going to school is also GETTING MASSIVELY DRUNK.

And we might have an Alexor sighting. Go with 4, with a revision before the day so we adjust in case.
Here we go. We are going to resked for April 1st (Habs vs. Sens).

Can I get a show of hands for this?
Hey Canadians. How are you? Good, good. Listen, my buddy is getting married soon, and we have picked Montreal as the place for his bachelor's weekend. We're not completely into whoremongering or anything, but just want to have a great time experiencing the city. I don't mean to hijack the thread, but if any of you folks could PM me some recommendations on places to eat, see good music, museums, with a side order of debauchery, I'd appreciate it. Merci.

Ahh.... Phil, when is that?

And Chris, I'm in, but this time, it's gonna be The One.

I'll make a normal post out of it, so fellow Montrealers can chime in, but qucikly like that, I'd say to visit:

- a walk in the Old Montreal
- Go check out the Mont-Royal

Food-wise:

-places reservations (at least 2 weeks in advance, party of 10 or less) at Le Pied de Cochon. It's quite unique, Quebec-inspired food, not too expensive.

And it's a bachelor, so stripper-wise, you're in for a threat:

- Kama-Sutra is a small classy joint
- Solid Gold is a staple of the city. But be sure to pay the cover to go
upstairs, it's worth it.

As for bars; I'll think of some other place than Crescent street, the obvious hotspot for tourists in search of alcohol.
