If I request a name change, does that retroactively change the name listed on previous posts? Or do those stay attributed to the old name, and all new ones go to the new name?

Are we still doing name changes? I'd like to be Trevor. There's already a Trevor from 2004, but he has 0 posts and hasn't logged on since '04.

If that's not possible, 'Trevor L' should be fine.

Cool, requests are open! I no longer use my current handle anywhere else, so there's not much sense in keeping the odd thing.

On the other hand, we have Chewers here who share & use both my first and last real name. I'm cool with initials, so if we can still have 3-letter names I'd like to switch over to:

It did take me forever to stop reading Patrick's non-nom de plume username as soybomb (among others), but nobody should care in my case.

I prefer to go sans-sig for now, but I'm too lazy to change my dumbass avatar. That should be enough to retain MB continuity, methinks.

No Devin, I obviously don't. And neither do Van Read, Johnny Depth, Pompoussory Whatever, Abbot and Prospero and a whole lot of other people. I have my reasons for changing my nick, but if you guys want to implement this new rule I won't ask again.

I think Nick should make a ruling on this. What is the point of changing from one fake name to another? It's just confusing.

He was calm. There's not even an exclamation mark in there.

The flurry of name-changes doesn't do anyone any favors, if you axe me. I don't think a lot of pseudonym users realize how indistinguishable they are from each other - not a knock, but I just normally don't remember made-up names. If you're on the board to contribute and be part of a community, why would you go all Lacuna Corporation on us with your identity?

I for one have identity issues and actually use fake names in my everyday life. When I grow tired of a persona I invent a new one and move on.
