The Haunted World of El Superbeasto

Thread Starter
Last thread got nuked, blah blah blah.

Anyway, Brian's recent article- http://www.creature-corner.com/?type=news&id=3176

I'm loving the look of this one. It's what Zombie needs to redeem himself after Halloween.

The Spookshow International comic that this comes from was fucking awful, but I'm interested in seeing some footage.

That John Kirkfalusi animation style isn't working for me. I'm surprised Zombie didn't collaborate with Bakshi for this.

It's funny that you say that, as JohnK worked for Bakshi a number of years.

Looks like IDT & Film Roman's doing the animation.

Turns out this is coming out on dvd....someday. It would be wise to get this thing out *before* Halloween 2 is released and impresses no one.
Some random clips are up at Amazon.

ok, so now that this thing is on DVD, what do you guys think? I got it on Netflix, watched it last night, I wasn't expecting much, but I gotta say, not impressed. So many flat jokes. What happened to the guy that made the Devil's Rejects. Was that really just a fluke?

Sheri Moon Zombie's voice was just so damned shrill.

You're just now realizing that?

no, it's always been pretty bad, but it seems like they used a digital filter to make it even more high piched and bitchy in this. How has Rob not fucking killed her by now. I have visions of their home life where she is just incessently nagging at him about the stupidest goddamned shit.

I hated this fucking movie. So much. JXN is understating it when he says there are many flat jokes. There's not a single joke that isn't.

I'm still a fan of Rob Zombie as a musician (can't wait for Hellbilly Deluxe 2 in November) but I think in terms of Rob Zombie's film career this is the last straw for me.

Sounds just like the comic!
I'll never forget the incredible amount of retarded sex related humor and random pop culture references that were just DOA.

It is a very literal translation. ALL the jokes in the film are about boobs, dicks or stupid off the mark cultural references.

For example: There is actually a schene were El Beasto is driving down a street and Michael Myers walks accross and gets hit by the car. Myers is dragged along on the hood for a while till he is destroyed. The symbolic irony is amazing. It's like Zombie is proud of how shitty this film is, and how baddly he mangled Halloween.

Other than that it's all baddly drawn boobs to the point that I don't even care that i'm looking at Fucking cartoon boobs anymore!

I honestly thought that there would never, never come a time when I would get tired of looking at boobs, cartoon or otherwise. Damn you Zombie! Damn you to Hell!

This is actually better than the comic. Some of the voice work and parts of the songs are occasionally funny. But it's basically 70 minutes of titty drawings. The animation ranges from mediocre to awful. They zoom in on characters a lot so you can see the sloppy, squiggly line work in all it's glory.

I also liked how Zombie was credited as director in big letters at the beginning. At the end of the movie, the smaller end credits list a couple of "additional directors".

Good lord, there are songs?
Like Rob Zombie songs or southern fried rock or showtunes?
There are a bunch of retarded and XXXXXXXXXTRA CRUDE theme songs for certain characters.
There's also a creepy song that urges the home viewer to masturbate during a topless cat fight.

Giamatti must have really needed that paycheck.
Giamatti plays 'Dr. Satan', a weird nerd who used to get beat up by Superbeasto in highschool lol.
He also wants to marry a SASSY HO stripper who has giant boobs that can inflate, stretch out and punch people.

Dr. Satan.
Zombie has resorted to stealing from his own movies now.

Does cartoon Sherri Moon get naked or is that not in her contract.
Every female character in the movie has a huge cartoon rack and is constantly naked.
*cut to male character getting an erection*
