Yeah, this is the same debate we kind of have every time. I've got a PS3 and a 360 and I find that I play both of them fairly equally. Only one of my friends has a PS3 though and he's not online that much. I've got a bunch of CHUD people on my friends list but they aren't online that much either. Even when they are online, it can be kind of a pain to get into a game with them (certainly harder than it is on my 360).
And people who say that the PS3 is technically more powerful than the 360, are right. The Cell processor can, when fully maximized, make way more calculations than the 360. The problem is that if you do a lot of branching and whatever the Cell doesn't deal with that too well so you take a bit of a performance hit there. That's why on things like Folding@Home the PS3 simply blows away the 360, but when it comes to games the PS3 seems to lag behind.
That said, most of the Sony-made 'exclusive' games never seem to have the issues that the multiplatform games do. Motorstorm, Resistance, Ratchet & Clank, Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, etc. All look great, and maybe even better than, comparable 360 games. It seems like the PS3 takes a bigger hit than the 360 if you aren't specifically targeting your release for that platform. Although some multiplatform games that are designed for PS3 first, like Burnout Paradise or DiRT, can look and perform better on the PS3 most developers prefer the 360's dev tools (and trust me, Microsoft is really good at making Dev tools ...) and will work in that environment if possible.
At the end of the day, in the US at least, I think the PS3 is basically going to be the Gamecube of this generation. Technically a powerful console but one that people don't really go to the trouble of making great games for except first party.

Granted, my 360's from 2006, so the newer models may be quieter. I'm just glad mine hasn't died yet. And for the record, I'm still happy I bought it.

I've got an HDMI 360 from August of last year and the thing is still amazingly loud. It's not TOO bad when there's no disc in there but when playing a disc game it's really, really annoying.
