Cellular Providers

I'm about to finish doing my time with T-mobile. They haven't been bad but their service range has been somewhat lacking and none of their smart phones really impress me.

Any recommendations on who you like/use and who to avoid?

Well, I'm partial to Verizon. Never really had any problems except on the MARTA train at certain spots underground and in elevators.

I would also suggest one of the metro cell services if you don't travel. I had a friend that used it and didn't have any problems, plus it was unlimited use.

I have AT&T and they have the iPhone. But I don't have one of those. They're supposed to be upgrading all their towers to 3G, so I get the intermittent dropping of calls even when I have full bars, but the guy told me it's because I'm going from an "E" network tower to a "3G" tower or vice-versa. He said once they've finished the upgrades that will stop. And it has gotten better lately.

Go with Verizon.

I decided to stick with Verizon and renew my contract. There is no way I'm going back to Cingular/AT&T evn if they have the iPhone. What's the point of having it if you can' find a good connection?

Never been let down by the Verizon network. Seems really solid. However, the phone selection could use some work, Goldberg. I have the Verizon enV phone, which I really like. But it might not be smartphoney enough for ya.

My BlackBerry (through the office) is on AT&T, but we'll be moving to Verizon because of better plan assortments (international calling and data) and too many dropped calls with AT&T.

AT&T is ok, but you learn to expect dropped calls in certain spots (i.e. exiting 400N at Mansell).

Well, I know I'm in the vast minority, but I've always been okay with Sprint. Of course, it helps that I get a 25% discount via my work.

Anyway, their coverage is pretty thorough around here, and I like my new Samsung M510 a lot.
