Saw Kick-Ass stoned last weekend. It was a mixed experience, as going to the theater baked always is.

First of all, trailers are INSUFFERABLE. the weed only underscores how trite and unimaginatively engineered they are.

Plus, sobering up during the flick always makes me restless, and since no movie these days is less than 2 hours, I always feel like it's gone on too long.

And don't bother telling me how I can smuggle in hits with a vapor bag or anything. I get so paranoid I can't even bring myself to sneak in bottled water.

Hopefully on-demand new releases are not far off.

Jake,

I do not care for brownies ETC. I ate nutmeg a few times in highschool and that kind of convinced me that most of the time ingestion should be avoided at all costs

My suggestion would be to get a cool TV and watch stuff at home*, and avoid the headache of all those steps.

PS Listening to UNDER THE DOME on audio book, another entertainment best enjoyed from the comfort of your own dwelling

*unless it is in 3D or something

Back when I still drank it, I used to sneak in 8 oz RED BULL in my socks if I was wearing pants, lol. I don't know why they wouldn't let me bring them in. I'd always buy a large Cherry Coke too, so it was not like they were losing drink money from me. They didnt sell REDBULL in the first place. However logic was no help and I was forced to resort to smuggling beverages inside my socks..

It is really no wonder I've given up on 2D movie going all together

Man, I love living here! Only in BC could there be a real grow op being guarded by black bears, awesome.

And I've never heard of Cali blue bud either but who knows, people just make that shit up anyway.

That's what I figured. The CBB was recently hyped to me as a must buy, which is why I asked. I tried pot one time that claimed to be the "G-13" super weed from American Beauty. It was probably just marketing nonsense, but it was the best I've ever smoked all the same (nearly instantaneous head trip upon the first hit)

I just got a hand held Iolite Vaporizer, and it's pretty much the most amazing thing I've ever owned. If it could make calls I'd throw out my iPhone.

My lungs would thank me if I picked one up. Been using a medium sized glass piece for a while now. I keep hoping it will change colors but it just looks dingy

1) are vaporizers expensive? My understanding is yes they are
2) I feel like it would waste weed, which I can't afford. I need to get a good buzz for my dollar these days. Love joints, but only bother to roll one for a social smoke. The reason? They burn more weed than necessary

The one I got was $175 at the shop, and I've seen it going for around $199 at most of the places online that sell them (including Amazon). A few of my friends have various models of vaporizers and they each said that they go through their pot slower with the vaporizer because you get more out of it per bowl and you wind up getting really high. I'd recommend it.

And I wish I had the cash for a Volcano, but $175 for the Iolite is quite the investment for me so I don't know if I could have forked over $600/700. They're damn cool, though.

I appreciate the insight, everyone. It's something I'll have to consider if I ever come into a sudden influx of $$$. In the mean time it's sadly beyond my budget. For now I'm just glad I've got my glass piece at least; for most of 2009 I was using a MacGyver'd water bottle I'd purchased at an IMAX showing of AVATAR

You want cheap and efficient? Gravity bong. Cut the bottom off a plastic 2-liter soda bottle and cut the top off a 3-liter. Making the bowl requires a little more ingenuity, but not much. A really classy way to smoke weed.

While Coke Cans (or cans of any sort, I assume) do work well in a pinch (extremely easy to convert to pot smoking use), they're far from ideal.

Eh, I've tried a gravity bong before and didn't come away terribly impressed. It worked OK, and got me fairly high* but it was kind of a hassle to set up (I had to wait around for like 30 minutes while other people got the thing to work right), and getting the stem for the bowl to fit properly ETC seemed tricky. I've owned a bong previously, but it sprang a leak and became messy. I like to chill/relax/chillax and smoke while lounging in bed, and would rather not risk spilled bong water in that situation. Plus, I am concerned about losing THC through filtering. At least with my pipe, when I run out of pot I can take resin hits

*Though I'm convinced quality of bud and how long you hold in the smoke are the most important factors for buzz power

Smoking out of a can is crap. It does work if you have absolutely nothing else to smoke with but man is that an inconvenient and gross way to do it. The lip of the can makes it hard to smoke effectively and who knows what kind of shit you're breathing in. I tried it a few times in high school for the novelty but I gave it up pretty quick, you're better off making a pipe with a coke bottle and a pen and some tin foil.

Now an apple pipe on the other hand, that's awesome. I just tried it for the first time not too long ago and it worked and tasted delicious.

I've only used a Volcano once at the New Amsterdam Cafe here in Vancouver, it was insane! It's hard to judge the high too objectively though, because we also smoked a joint there. I can say with certainty that I had a very very good time. I would buy one if they weren't insanely expensive.

Knowing a can can do in a pinch is good info to have, but yes the mouth piece, the shallow bowl and risk of injury (on sharpe metal) should make it the pipe of last resort (like Dominos and pizza)

BTW, I used to spend alot of time and take alot of pride in making intricate MacGyver pipes. You can DIY without the result being terrible. I had an official Apple computer weird metal pen I'd use to meticulously reshape portions of pie tin to make long lasting bowls (tin foil has weird stuff in it, avoid if you can!)

Poorly made pipe? Maybe not a firm enough apple?

A friend made the one I used and it worked great. It wasn't sticky to hold or anything and it didn't clog at all, and every toke tasted a little bit like apple juice.

You can see a fine mist. When it fills with enough mist, pull.

How would you know when the bud had been depleted of THC? With smoking, it is obvious because of the carbonization that takes place during the combustion process

Also, 'whole chest bit?

EDIT Jake would you be willing to alter the thread title and change it go "THE OFFICIAL THREAD OF CANNABIS ENTHUSIASM"? IMHO "Pothead" is a pejorative and we should cast that terminology aside

The bud will still turn brown. From my understanding, vaped bud can still be ground and further THC extracted into a butter for continued enjoyment.

The video talks about holding the pen portion to your chest while lighting.

I'm kind of a glass snob - the more unique the better! I just never had as quality a buzz coming from metal or acrylic. I will also be the first to admit that's probably in my head because I started on glass and in every fun situation I've been in glass was involved. Nostalgia!!! I've never tried vapes - maybe one day. I like the smoke and the experience of smoking a quality pipe/bong.

This head shop in VT had a blue glass Flash Gordon style laser pistol, that was huge, beautiful and 500$. I'd have picked it up of I could have afforded it

Volcanos are amazing. They are rediculously expensive though. But oh man does that thing get you HIGH.
