I try not to play cheap unless it's necessary (ranked style) or if the other person is.

Nice to hear that; i try to do so as well; i try to shy away from trapping an opponent in a corner or spamming special moves and so on.
Still, the sheer amount of Ryu and Ken players who are total cheap dicks get on my nerves sometimes.

::tapping fingers impatiently waiting for ps3 people to play less killzone 2 and more street fighter::

and btw, Zhukov... that arcade fighting stick looks sweeeet
and yeah, SF III is awesome. My only problem with that game was the character design... too many weirdos. Minor complaint though.

I want this: http://www.amazon.com/Official-Fight...297772&sr=8-11

Is it worth the money to purchase the MadCatz Street Fighter IV FightStick?

Also, I've built a losing streak of 20 in a row. Go me, right? I'll get on tonight and increase that losing streak. I think I'm destined to get my ass kicked every time. I got beat by some guy who had ZERO online matches to his name. How sad is that.
28 more wins to go until I get 100 wins ( and the 10 Years Too Late achievement).
Cyberwaste thank you for the beating. May I have another?
Haha. Anytime.
Still kicking ass at this game. Wish more chewers were playing this on the 360.
Bought this today for 360, just haven't been home yet to give it a spin.

The ass stompings will be rationed out shortly. Please stand by.
Shoot me an invite if you see me on. I've been playing this nonstop since I picked it up. I just tend not to be on mic when I play.
Hey, Justin, I saw you playing this earlier. Send me an invite!

This is kind of hard to answer. I spent ~$60 on the Hori 360 arcade stick (since the 360 does not allow cross-platform peripheral conversion) . . . and it works. But it kind of sucks.

Is this the FightStick you refer to?

http://www.amazon.com/Street-Fighter.../dp/B001M22WN8

Being that this uses Sanwa parts, I would say yes, it is worth the money. That's roughly about what I spent, and you can feel the difference.

EDIT: I use my Sanwa stick to play REZ, and recommend the experience to anyone who likes incredibly awesome things.
I'm liking it. I'm liking it a lot.

Only real gripes I've got are with the 360 controller in general, how much of a throw-spamming bitch Seth is in Round 2, and how ridiculously unintuitive it is to pull off the combos in Challenge mode. Small gripes in the long run in the face of all the GOOD.

Also, that individual character languages option is about 15 years long overdue for this genre.

I'm gonna try and get everyone unlocked before I head online (if nothing much has changed with Rose since SF Alpha, you fuckers have a LOT to worry about), but if I'm feeling adventurous between now and then, I'll find you.

Bring it Clark.

IS THERE NO ONE ELSE?
Goddammit, it took me forever to beat Seth with Guile (who is my best character). So many times I would've had him, but I just cannot for the life of me pull of Guile's Super and Extreme combos during battle. But I finally finished him off with a steady diet of flash kicks and German suplexes.

Seth is the cheapest end boss in any fighting game...EVER.

Also, I fucking hate end bosses who are a mixture of every other character. So fucking stupid.

It's extremely uncreative and overdone, but sort of makes sense within the Street Fighter "storyline"; Shadaloo was abducting the best fighters in the world and trying to brainwash them to be their soldiers, now they opted to just take the best abilities of the fighters and combine them into one big grey super-cheap motherfucker.

It's still an insanely bullshit fight that drives me nuts, though.

I vehemently disagree.
Funny thing is, I have played against someone on Live only once using Seth. He was not cheap at all (and I beat him too - yay!).

My point is the computer has the difficulty jacked up to 11 when you fight Seth. Can't stand it.
Seth is nothing... NOTHING... compared to the end boss of the latest King of Fighters to hit PS2 (about a year or so ago). KOF 11? Not sure, I lost count. But that guy really is beyond cheap, overpowered and difficult... I couldn't beat him. At all. Pissed me off so much I stopped playing the game altogether.

I get that, but it's still fucking retarded.
Seth is a cheap knock-off of Dural. He's a bitch.

True, Gill had the most disgusting ultimate move ever - RESURRECTION - but when I beat him, I felt like I earned it. I beat Seth out of blind luck, it seems. Teleport+throw, teleport+throw, teleport+throw, you're dead. Fuck you guy.

Now I have Rose and a Fight Pad.

Follow the above advice, people...not that any of you are like that, but im amazed how they nailed what makes a SFIV "jerk".
I picked this up tonight, mostly just for playing on weekends with my best friend at his place...and this damn game pisses me off. I would kill for a better d-pad, or a good arcade pad, but I refuse to pay for additional controllers. The controls aren't abominable, but I'm definitely hitting somewhere close to 40 or 50 percent of my specials and combos. That just doesn't feel right to me. I also hate that I need to beat the game a stupid amount of times to unlock the characters. So if I spend all this time unlocking characters, and go to my friend's place I now don't have the characters? Lame as hell.

But I actually really love the gameplay itself. It's interesting, challenging, the graphics are amazing, and it straddles hardcore and pick up and play fighting styles perfectly.
Why is everyone bitching about the Xbox 360's DPAD? You should've seen this coming. Unless you were planning on throwing down more dough for a spiffy fighting game pad, it was a dumb decision to purchase the 360 version if you have both a 360 and PS3. Blah
post #181 of 199
Why would it be dumb to pay for the 360 version when I want to play with friends at their homes or online? And I'm not a fan of the PS3 d-pad either. I'd kill for an SNES d-pad. I just wish the controls compensated for the inaccuracy of the d-pad/stick, or Xbox would slap a new d-pad on a controller and change nothing else and release it. I'm almost positive Japan got a new 360 controller solely changing the d-pad, and nothing else. I'd love to have it here.

Fuck them. I'll use Ken all I want. HE's a good character and I've used him since I was a kid. haha.
Quickly back to Seth, but on any difficulty when I've had to fight him (and when I'm playing against the computer I don't care about being cheap) if you stay close and repeatedly kick him you'll eventually outlast him. He takes a split second longer to actually set combos and his special moves into motion than the other characters which gives a little bit bigger of a window to counter or strike. You just have to stay close to him the entire time.

Because the dpad sucks. It's like playing a game that almost works. "I can pull off the combo/super most of the time." Dude, imagine playing a platformer or any game where you're heldback by a shitty control. Seems dumb to me. Most of my friends have it for xbox and either had to buy the madcatz fighting game pad (not stick) or are bitter or aren't that good at the game so don't mind playing with a broken controller. The ps3 dpad isn't the greatest but works perfect for SFIV.
I don't think throws are cheap in this game. Maybe Zangief's because of his huge range.
its funny
I tried this game out on the ps3 last night with my buddys controller and I prefer the 360 controller.

if they'd put a snes dpad on the 360 controller, we'd have the perfect controller....
Unless you're retarded or like using the joystick, don't see how you can have a preference for that controller.
Been playing for a few hours today on Live, and boy I really suck. I still can't really get used to the D-pad on 360's controller, and the inability to pull off simple specials pisses me off. Too bad Mad Catz's controllers are sold out everywhere and too expensive to buy online. Oh well, at least I still have some fun, and somehow managed to pick up my 10th victory on Live for a small achievement (yay me?).
Everyone except Seth's unlocked, I've played 100 matches online.

I'm ready. Anybody around, shoot me an invite.

Ah. This guy is familiar with it.
I don't think Seth is the worst, but for someone who hasn't played SF since Super Street Fighter on the SNES, it's absolutely maddening to fight a boss who has no pattern whatsoever. Even when I won I didn't feel rewarded: it just felt like "oh shit, the AI was twitchy this time I guess" (oddly enough the first time I ever beat him was with Fei Long on medium after having been creamed on Easy using my best characters).

As difficult as it can be to play Zangief, Sagat is still the most powerful character in the game. At least Zangief is predictable and needs to close the distance. Sagat can keep his distance and worst of all, takes little damage, and dishes a shitload.

I'm trying to learn M. Bison but for whatever reason, I have a lot of trouble doing ANY of his moves.

I'm an Akuma player and to whoever said that Akuma is cheap: wrong. Akuma takes a ton of damage, so it balances out. He has some great zoning moves, like the double air fireball, but his special/ultra's can be easily avoided which makes him fairly limited in comparison.

I've been trying to learn Seth, but he takes so much damage and does so little - despite some excellent combos- that it's almost not worth it (for clarification his moves as a playable character are significantly weaker than as a boss, as they do VERY little damage). I'll stick with it though...just so some of you guys can potentially have the pleasure of fighting Seth and not Ken, Ken, Ken, Ken, Ken, Ken, Ryu, Ken.

XBOX users: my gamertag is mrmagorium666 so if anyone's ever up for a game...

So what's everyone's BP? I'm not that good at SFIV, and I only have about 1k BP so far. But I play player matches more than ranked anyway.
Fluctuates between 700 and 1400. Everytime I think I'll make it over the 1500 hump, I'll get repeatedly bitch smacked down to triple digits by better players. Got thoroughly stomped just today by somebody with 58,000 points, and used BALROG.

Pretty much cemented I'll always just be playing this game for fun.
The free DLC for games keeps on coming!!!

Free Championship Mode download for SFIV coming on April 24th

Thank God finally for the double-blind character selection.

Another incredibly awesome new feature: Tournament mode supports shaming! If you rage-quit out of a match because you're too much of a baby to take your beating like a man, you're penalized. Frequent quitter can never advance to the top ranks. Here's where the shame comes in: The game will display your "quit percentage" for all to see. So you will look like a jackass if you drop out of matches a lot...
Thank you, Capcom. Thank you.
Xbox Live has the free update online. The tournaments are pretty cool.

Yes, I have the fightpad and I like it alot, esp. for shoto fighters like Ryu, Ken, etc. The biggest problem I have is that it's harder to pull off ultras for Guile and Blanka, because it just isn't that great for charge moves. However, now I can do Ryu's ultra almost with ease. So if you use shoto fighters, then it's definitely a great purchase.
Btw, my championship rank is now G3-C, but it's gonna be harder to get to B. I love the double-blind character selection, and I wish it's implemented for both ranked and player matches.

Btw, you guys can send me invite for SFIV, just mention that you're from Chud.
