The reaction of the crowd in the pic says it all.

Poor guy. Reminds me of the more serious throat cut to Clint Malarchuk, who, ironically, played for Buffalo.

I always recall Malarchuk telling his version of the story - he looked down, saw blood squirting out 3 feet from his neck with every heartbeat, looked up at the nearest ref, and asked "am I going to die?" The ref just sorta went "ummm...."

And thus, the dumbfuck called Don Cherry and some Americans stood up and yelled "THIS IS HOW YOU PLAY HOCKEY!".

Fuck, I can't understand how they made them play after that...

Was watching the game and completely missed the accident, as they only replayed it once. But, as for calling the game, that decision usually lies with the ref after consulting with both teams. (And Colin Campbell was there, too, so he was consulted.) If memory serves, they didn't call the Malarchuk game either.

They showed this like 100 times in a 5 minute commentary on Versus last night. Quite disguisting and Versus was doing their best at desensitizing the country.

Hockey...what is this hockey you speak of? I think I remember hearing about it 7-10 years ago. But I'm not sure if that's a figment of my imagination.

They didn't make them. It says the decision was made after the teams said they were willing to play.
