Has anyone tried this game? Found out it's being released on Steam this week for $9.95, and decided to try out the demo for kicks. It's pretty fun, and it has things like online leader boards and buddy lists so you can see how you stack up against others.

It's pretty fun. The ability to choose your own music and have it synced to the track is a plus for me. The graphics are simple but nice, and the online leaderboards are a cool feature. I find it slightly disappointing that you can't 'fail' a song, which limits the challenge of the game, but I suppose that it's meant to be a casual affair. There are also some modes that I could do without (but since the last beta, that's apparently been fixed).

Still, the fact that they're releasing it on Steam is somewhat of killjoy (you do get the Orange Box soundtrack if you preload, though). My internet connection and firewall settings are hating Valve right now for some reason.

It's cool that this first indie game released with Steamworks is now the top selling game in Steam.

So far I've only tried the demo and only a few game modes, but this seems pretty cool and addictive. For some reason the levels based on Aphex Twin songs are really slow, I would've thought they'd be insane. Digeridoo was the best so far.

Some YouTube videos:
Rammstein – Du Hast
Blur – Song 2

Queens of the Stone Age rocks in this. I've been too lazy to rip my CDs on my new laptop, but now I'll have to just to experience them in the game.

Soundgarden works fantastically well in Audiosurf. So does E.S. Posthumus and stuff from my Cowboy Bebop and Ghost In The Shell soundtracks.

I'm still trying to figure out what criteria in the song makes the game decide to throw corkscrews in to the level. Anyone have a theory?

When playing Björk's Hyper-ballad Audiosurf created one of those huge spinning background objects on top of the track. Thankfully, it only blocked the view a few times in the beginning.

Played the demo, bough it immediately.

This is basically the game I 'really' wanted when I bought "E4" on Live.

Could dig on some more background options (seems the same each time I play) and controlling with a mouse kills my wrist after just a few songs. Otherwise great stuff.

Songs that have worked well for me:

Sigur Ros - Untitled 08

Rob Dougan - Furious Angels

Royksopp - What Else is There?

M.I.A - $20

Anyone latch on to a specific character yet? I find I can't do jack unless I'm using some version of Point Man.

Its a fun game. The songs I have had the most fun with so far were

Genesis- Turn it On Again
Dave Gahan- Kingdom
John Carpenter & The Coupe De Villes- Big Trouble in Little China
Rod Stewart- Do Ya Think I'm Sexy

I installed this at work today, which probably was not a great idea for hitting deadlines. But whatever.

I'm addicted to Mono Pro.

I think I like the more twitch-heavy, less brain-intensive gameplay of the Mono character set. Having to manage my colors and patterns makes it impossible to enjoy the music when things really intense.

Just pwned the shit out of Tool's "10,000 Days (Wings part 2)". No greys hit. Hellz yes.

Kind of a slow burn song, but when it cuts loose and Maynard is all "GIVE ME MY WIIIIIIINNNNNGGSSS" and the little ship is like VROOOOOOOOAAAAAAAHMMM and it's like "FUCK YEAH GIVE ME MY WINGS WOOO!"

Just noticed the way the camera zooms in as you speed up, which is an excellent effect.

I wanted this exact game ever since Rez came out.

It's downloading as we speak. First thing I'm gonna do is pop some Sepultura in, probably Policia and after that it's Carmina Burana time.

Got this a few days ago, and have been playing quite a bit of it. Since it has a "Friends" list maybe we could add CHUD users who were interested in some "friendly" competition?

If anyone wants to add me, my in-game user name is ElfShotTheFood.

I am loving the hell out of this. Playing pretty much exclusively on Ninja Mono. As mentioned earlier Queens of the Stone Age is great on this, as are several of Buckethead's songs. The Molossus track from the Batman Begins soundtrack is pretty great. Beat It by Michael Jackson makes the thing feel like a roller coaster. AC/DC's For Those About To Rock is probably my favorite track to play on here.

I propose a friendly tournament. Let's decide on a new song every few days and we'll race it. F1 rules and scoring. My Steam username is xenist if anyone's interested.

My new favourite Audiosurf track: Tonto by Battles. Too bad someone went and broke my record.

My recent reaquisition of a gaming PC and Steam allowed me to finally get a copy of this game, after playing it a few times at my friends house. So much fun, and as someone who really loves music it's fantastic for trying out new albums because you'll never pay as much attention to a song than when you're dodging great blocks. So far I'm finding that songs with a stronger, slower and more structured beat make better tracks than songs that are just fast and chaotic. As such Rob Dougan's brand of classical dance music makes really interesting tracks, the Prodigy just create insanely fast straights. Anyways I've had some brilliant tracks with

Spellbound by Siouxsie and the Banshees
Furious Angels by Rob Dougan
Ed Is A Portal by Akron/Family

Anyone still dipping into this? I come back to it every few weeks and have a little mess around with newer songs and the tracks of the week audiosurf provides. Still love the game to pieces but due to me not being much of a PC Gamer I have to think I'd personally get more mileage out of it on a console.

Given that the PS3 and 360 can not only store music on their harddrive, but also stream content, and other games can use this streaming content quite happily (the new WWE games let you use your own music for entrance music) I'm surprised it's not made the leap across to the PSN or Xbox Live.

The Rock n Roll Circus version of The Who's "A Quick One While He's Away" (the one featured in Rushmore) is the most fun I've had with Audiosurf. Really dynamic song and Keith Moon's crazy drumming adds a lot to the track.

t.A.T.u's "Not Gonna Get Us" is also amazing, but I'm pretty sure I'm the only person who loves that song.

I got this about a week ago, and have only played it once so far-- DJ Shadow's "Napalm Brain", which worked well, I thought. It's definitely a cool little game. I'll give it another shot soon.
