Battlestar Galactica: Season 4 - Page 19

I like the 1930-ish vibe.
I honestly thought I was watching a preview before the actual preview. But we'll see what happens when it airs.
Is that the preview to "Caprica" or the new Terminator? Got to say I'm tired of prequels. Will we get cameos from the ancestors of every lead on BSG?

Does anyone know if we will see Webisodes for BSG between now and the last 10 episodes. That could be a great way to deal with things skipped in the last few episodes...like Kara dealing with Anders, or Tigh explaining to 6 that he is a Cylon too, and wtf does it mean that 6 is pregnant by him? etc....

The BSG at Comic Con, which as it turns out was really about Kevin Smith

That figures. I read a few reports and he seemed to be quite the obnoxious one. Excuse my ignorance, but I've never seen any of his movies, so this is my vague first judgment/impression.

Why doesn't anyone ever call Lucy Lawless' character by her name? There are no damn cylons named Xena.
Glad to see Esai Morales and Eric Stoltz working again. I'll have to make time to watch that hour-long Comic Con panel video.

HEADS UP - Don't click on the spoiler article over at AICN. Not even to peek, trying to see what the spoiler is regarding without actually seeing the spoiler (like I did). The offending info is right there at the top.
Yep. DAMN YOU GAYLEN! DAMN YOU!!!
I'm not sure why that "spoiler" would be particularly shocking to anybody. I thought that was the common assumption for a while now.
Exactly. After we learned that the final five are from Earth, this was always a possibility. And Ron Moore has always said that these are a different kind of cylon, and that the five would make us question what a Cylon is.

I can't work out how this ties in to Caprica, though.
Eh Ok. But if true this screws the internal chronology of the series. The Cylons were created 40-79 years before Season 1, but then suddenly there are Cylons 1,000's of years old?

This could be a disinformation ploy by Moore (a la Starbuck "dying").

Still, it'll be about 10 years before the final episodes air so who cares?

Well that's my point - Ron Moore has basically said that these are different types of Cylons, they are not evolved from Toasters. The other Cylons - six, Boomer etc - didn't even know there were other Cylons like these, especially not from Earth.

All this is intriguing, but I think I preferred BSG in seasons 1 and 2, when they were just running from the Cylons and looking for Earth.

Some of you who queried what the 'Earth' they're on is may have been right:

Invisotext:

The "Earth" found in the mid-season finale is actually what writers called "Earth 1," a source told SyFy Portal. A catastrophic event happened that destroyed the planet, but the people of this Earth actually fled to a new homeworld, also called Earth, and the planet where all of us viewers are now standing on.

"What Aaron is trying to say is that the actual word for 'Earth' in the scriptures is 'Cylon,' and it reveals a lot about what we'll learn of the Final Five and their origins."

Last June, a source told SyFy Portal that fans should be careful not to think they have the show all figured out by the final minute of the mid-season ender, saying that they should not "make assumptions."

It“ll be back.

Question: What the frak! Is Battlestar Galactica ever returning? -- Ken
Ausiello: Good news: A Sci Fi source confirms to me exclusively that the last half of season 4 premieres on Friday, Jan. 16, at 10 p.m. Which, by my calculations, puts the series finale (boo-hoo!) at Friday, March 20. Viewing party at Tim Stack's place, and you're all invited!
Good news. I guess.

Good thing they filmed it before the credit crisis. Bush / Greenspan blowing our chances of Mad Max: Fury Road was bad enough. But no BSG season 4...hmmm no.

The new trailer for season 4.5: Happy days are yours and mine.

Moore must take pride in just how much he likes to fuck his characters up. Give them a break once in a while, Ilsa:Showrunner of the SS.

I haven't read this article, but some of you will want to. Why would they give big clues as to the identity of the final Cylon when it's still nearly 2 months away?

SPOILERS

I just saw the same speculations that have been floated on this board, AICN and elsewhere

I'm more interested in what happened to Earth (?) and the final resolution of the show than who the Final Fifth Cylon is.
I don't know anything about these spoilers, and I don't know what I think of the "earth v. new earth speculation", but I have to wonder what happened when Apollo, Starbuck, Adama, and Roslin were all standing on Earth during the Tomb of Athena scene. That clearly was not a nuclear wasteland.

I think that was a representation of Earth, not actually Earth.

Webisodes should be a nice morsel before the real deal. Too bad I hate the four minute format.

God, I feel so fucking vindicated from you Mooks.
Fuck off with spoilers, eh? We'll all know soon enough.
Of all the people, they choose Lt. Gaeta to be gay? That's like naming Baltar, Gaius Sleepswithlotofchicks.

David Twohy feels vindicated, I guess.
Obviously it's a subtle play on his name. After four seasons of people saying 'hey Lt GAYeta" it emerges that he is in fact gay! Not many people would notice it, but those of us who have stuck through all 4 seasons were amply rewarded for our diligence with subtle clues and payoffs like this.

Just like in season 3 when they pretended to "Sack" Katee Sackoff!

Oh, yeah, the first Webisode is up

It was ok. Are all those ships in orbit round Earth? I assume so because it says 9 days after they reach Earth, but then at the begining it says 3 days earlier.

I reckon the nine days refers to what looks like a quick cut tease for the entire series at the very beginning. And the three days earlier mark the beginning of this tale.

I doubt that it was earth orbit though since there was a nebular that I don“t recall from our solar system. It seems the fleet is back to jumping away from cylons and hence constantly changing position.

Not very much to debate and speculate here though. But I sure loved the familiar sets and sounds of BSG. Only one more month.

And here is the Youtube version for those unfortunate non-US residents. Great marketing move Sci-Fi.....
So the 3 days earlier means 3 days before they find Earth? No-one knows Tigh is a Cylon?
Stuck at home in suburban NY, so I rewatched season 4 of BSG to pass the holidaze. Still enjoyed most of it, minus a few parts here and there (they missed some opportunities with Lee) but the filler was spread out well enough although that might be a function of watching all of the episodes in a few sittings.

I've heard some people complain how the show really hasn't been all that (especially in 3 and 4), but I never expected it to match the newness of those early seasons. The many plots become too complex, characters evolve from where there were originally conceived, and the overarching myth becomes something of a burden for the writers to juggle. All I want is for the show to stay true to its original intentions.

After that crash course, I'm definitely stoked to finish off the show next year. The preview hints that the show is heading in a strange direction, which is great since all bets are off now. I might be slightly more excited for this than Lost, just because it's the final 10 episodes and I expect sublime closure.

I'm digging the webisode plotline so far. Heh, everyone on that raptor is highly expendable except Gaeta. The format is a frustratingly clipped but it's a freebie, so complaining seems out of order.

Welcome home Galactica.

If there's one thing BSG knows how to do, it's a cliffhanger, it starts off strong, goes south during the middle then hit's a homerun towards the end, only in this case, they went for a subdued ending. I did enjoy various moments from this season, Roslin dealing with her cancer and that other woman, was some pretty powerful stuff even if it did conclude with 'Roslin, you're really a bitch, love someone', the cylon's experimenting with humans was some pretty horrific shit, I don't think they really resolved that sub-plot, at least not satisfactorily, Baltar continues on his quest for more pussy, I swear he has some mack daddy shit going on but I liked his arc, his confession to Roslin was nicely done, he wants so badly to be forgiven.
It seemed like the show was going in some interesting places, the thematic references to the death of the greek gods with the on-set of christianity and the refusal of the greek gods to accept their fate and die without a fight.

During the scene where Lee Adama and Deanna make a temporary truce, Lee says "Where do we go from here" I'm racking my brain because I've heard that line in a song and I can't think which song it is, it's a stretch but I keep thinking there's some kind of connection there.

EDIT: Nevermind about the song, I was thinking of a Jamiroquai song.

Guys! Hey, Guys! The Webisodes got interesting!

It's true! Check out Episodes 7-9

Wow, actually interesting. If only that crappy Rise of the Lycans ad didn't play before each one.
Wow, Tigh seems to be enjoy being a Cylon, or at least come to terms with it. The look of awe when he was talking about Cylon technology.
