Spore - Page 8

The problem with designing things for your colonies is that you almost never see them.

Expansion packs are on the way.

Your Spore creature could soon get even creepier--or cuter, depending on your preferences in primordial beings. Electronic Arts on Monday officially confirmed rumors that an expansion titled Spore Creepy & Cute Parts Pack will be available worldwide as soon as November 18.

The expansion, announced just a month after the game's release, will offer more than 100 new creature-building components in two styles--charming, cartoon-esque creatures and scary, monster-like beasts.

The long-awaited game from EA and The Sims creator Will Wright tasks players with evolving from primordial ooze to creature, civilization, and all the way out into space. The expansion pack will include body parts, paint options, animations, and backgrounds, so players will have even more options for customizing their creatures.

But that's not all, creature creators. EA says it also expects to release a space stage expansion pack in spring 2009 that will let players' space-faring beings beam down from their spaceships to explore new planets and earn rewards for completing challenging missions. A new adventure creator will let players build and share online their own custom missions.
Looks like Spore will be following the Sims model of expansion packs aplenty.

I haven't touched this game since Warhammer Online came out.

I saw that last night. I was wondering if people who don't buy the expansion will still see creations by people who did.

I can understand getting bored and moving on, but for Warhammer? Ugh.

For Warhammer Dawn of War II? Definitely.

I have had huge technical issues with Spore, but now that it is sorted out, I really think its worth it. This game is fantastic. Perhaps from a linear game-design standpoint its not that good. I couldn't comment. I have five people playing on my account (including a young boy) and the interactions, character creations, and creative approaches shared by our little group has been awesome. I just downloaded the DUNE sporecast - even better.

Why this reaction? This is true for me too. Warhammer is a fucking excellent MMO. I still dabble a little with Spore but my time is now fully spent between Warhammer and The Witcher.

Probably due to the combination of me being sick of MMO's, and the fact that I've never liked Warhammer. It's like Lord of the Rings redesigned by a 14-year-old who wanted to make everything all dark and gritty and shit.

Off topic, but Warhammer's "dark and gritty" atmosphere is mostly tongue in cheek.

I only played the free creature editor stage. While digging the mIlky article I found this...http://forum.spore.com/jforum/posts/...5.240059#93713

Interesting stuff. I hadn't heard any of this before. It does help explain some of the disparity between the early previews and the final product.
