The Cubs still have Zambrano and the 5 or so innings they'll get out of Harden. Easy enough to turn the series back around. It's worth noting though that predicting a bunch of sweeps is ignoring the history of the playoffs.

. I can't help but take a certain amount of pleasure from the Cubs' pain. It's fun for the rest of us to see them lose.

Fucking 2 straight years of this bullshit. 2 years playing way too tight.
Hendry has alot of work to do in the offseason and with the possible selling of the team he may not be ablt to do anything. The Cubs have 2 FA they should resign-Dempster and Wood. But outside of that they could get a CF, SS, or 2B for offense. All the other positions are trenched in. A 7th inning pitcher is a must. Howry blows. I wouldn't want to be a Cub at the next Cub convention. 2 years in a row is pissing me off and I would bet others are just as mad. |

You Cub fans bitch WAY too much. Seriously. Like you deserve a championship or something. Like it should just be handed to you. The sense of ownership of that really boggles the mind. I can't believe the stuff that Cub fans have been saying on the radio. They had a great team this year and blew it. Yeah, it sucks to lose, but you know what? There's no fault on Hendry or Pinella here. None. They did everything they could and came across a really hot Dodgers team. It happens. To say that Hendry's got a lot to do this off season is dumb. He's got the foundation of a team that's gonna be good for probably the next couple seasons without doing much. He just needs to tinker in a few areas.
I think the biggest problem with the team was that they seemed to buy into the whole "team of destiny" bullshit. There's no such thing ever. |

I think you're confusing the venting of frustration with bitching. It's not that Cubs' fans think we deserve a championship, it's that this is one of the best Cubs teams, (if not the very best) many of us have ever seen, and they still got swept...that's where the frustration comes from. There isn't a sense of ownership or a feeling that the title should be handed to the Cubs; there is however a sense of missed opportunity as it seemed the Cubs actually had a legitimate shot at winning this year and they managed to fail in spectacular fashion.
Oh well, there's always next year. |

Oh, that would be a home run but the guy climbed a hill in center and avoided a flag pole to catch the ball. What's that, you hit a pop fly to left ... oops that's a home run. Hey, it's the playoffs and the weather is nice outside, instead of opening the roof and playing baseball outdoors like it's meant to be, we'll keep it closed so it's louder, gives us an edge, and you can't avoid that horrible buzzing of our old 'killer B' lineup. |

From what I've watched this past decade, it seems that when you're in the playoffs you need someone to kind of break that tension or else you get wound to tight and just struggle. When you come in with a 100-win season or whatever, there is always more pressure on you to perform. The Cardinals had two 100+ win seasons and couldn't win the World Series in either of them. Instead it took a shitty 87 win season with an end of September seven game losing streak and two other eight game losing streaks to get them loose enough that they cruised through the playoffs.

I will say it was nice to see Zambrano, Soriano and Ramirez exposed (once again) as horrible big game players, though. |
