Why does nobody TELL me these things?!

Yeah, my friend ended up telling me about this over the weekend. I don't know how to feel about it. I liked the show, but thought that the last episode was a fitting end to the series.

This just has too much potential to be crap.

And no Mandy Patinkin

I actually fucking loved this show and I welcome the movie. However no Mandy and no Laura Harris does hurt my heart.

Yeah, I'm gonna miss Rube, but after season 2, there's not a whole lot of interesting places they could've taken him. I'm more concerned over this whole idea that, apparently, Reggie (who grew up really fucking fast, I might add) can see George.

Also, if you're a 24 fan, who they replaced Laura Harris with is kinda hilarious.

I dunno. I have my reservations, especially since Season 2 tended to jump minute to minute from being a waste of time, money, and brainpower to being the best show on TV. But, anything from this universe will have my undivided attention.

Apparently, they got Robert Patrick to replace Patikin, if I remember correctly.

I fell in love with this show through DVD. Callum Blue is so, so great (and I think the series functioned as an audition reel for Cassidy from Preacher), and I still use Patikin's "Cream of Bullshit!" from time to time.

I thought Henry Ian Cusick was replacing Patinkin. He was introduced as the 'new boss' in the trailer.

As much as I liked the show, the fact that Georges fucking family is playing a big part means I"m out.

I heard about this awhile ago, kind of hoped it was all one big joke. The lack of Patinkin definitely keeps me out.

Really unnecessary but damn, Reggie got hot.

And she's a year away from being legal.

This appears to be the only existing thread related to this show. I thought there was another one but maybe it got lost in the great thread purge of '07.

Anyway, the glorious HDNet is running this show now. I'm guessing it's halfway through the first season, if it's a 13-episode season. The actress who blew guys on the GONE WITH THE WIND set just showed up. It's really entertaining so far and I like George a lot but I noticed something in one episode that been nagging on me.

This is a completely minor thing and is probably never addressed in the two season the show ran BUT- in the episode where Gayheart's character follows a soul to the light, she has George take a picture of her before she leaves. The polaroid develops and it's a picture of Gayheart. Shouldn't the picture be of some random person? Do reapers get to revert to their original appearance after a generation has passed or something? Like I said, completely minor and probably noticed by only the most anal viewers.

Also, what's with Fuller and giving girl characters boy names?

Fuller was replaced as show runner early on, and as the show progressed, they do away with more and more of the rules. Best you learn now to deal with inconsistencies in the established rules or you're not going to be able to make it through the second season.

It also always kinda irked me that we never see what Rube, Roxy, or Daisy look like to the rest of the world at all, and that Crack Whore George eventually just stops showing up altogether.

Not sure if it explains it altogether, but it certainly helps that Bryan Fuller is very, very gay.

Yes they did do away with the concept of them looking different but not altogether which made it even more confusing. Obviously George doesn't look the same or her mother and sister would recognize her. And on a halloween they reveal that on that day Reapers can be seen for how they really look and thats during the second season finale. However during that whole time the never show the "other" George.

The episode this week was the one where the cook from Der Waffle House kicked the bucket. Great episode but there was one concern. Was the show cancelled because Ellen Muth finally wasted into nothingness from anorexia? Girl needs to eat a sandwich or six.

When the fuck is this going to come out anyway?
What the hell kind of ending for a show was that? I mean, it was a pretty good episode but come on... Did the producers think they were going to get a third season or what?
Well possibly.......plus theres this movie that refuses to come out.
It was delayed until some time next year. At the earliest.

Yeah I'm pretty sure Showtime didn't decide to pull the plug until the season ended.

And as far as I'm concerned, a Dead Like Me movie without Mandy Patinkin can go fuck itself. Rube was my favorite part of that show.

So I finalyl got to see this movie and I was not impressed. First of all they couldn't get back the actors that played Rube and Daisey. The Rube character was completely cut from the story and Daisey was recast by Sarah Wynter who is awful by the way. Rube is replaced by Cameron (Desmond from Lost). He has some master evil plan that really doesn't make any sense. What his motivation is for carrying out this plan that doesn't make sense is never known. Basically Mason, Roxy and Daisey deal with Desmond while George deals with her sister. Neither story is really ever finished in a satisfactory way. It really felt like this thing was slapped together when they were drunk. Really a terrible way to end this series. Please Dead Like Me take a page out of Frefly's handbook.

That definitely wasn't worth the wait.

Available on Netflix Instant for anyone curious, but talk about a needless followup. One thing that pissed me off more than anything is that they went back on their mythology and had (swipe) George meeting with her little sister, even though it was shown that she couldn't talk to her family without her losing her memories. I KNEW they were going to try and have her reconnect with them, and it's the cheapest and easiest way to get some closure to the series. Fuck this.

For the matter, why the fuck would the characters act like they did? All of a sudden there's no boss and they all go crazy? They all have been doing this for years and years and suddenly they forget all the consequences for their actions and start acting like new reapers?

Fucking waste, it really is. I wasn't a huge fan of the show but it was entertaining enough, and this feels like it was made by someone who absolutely didn't have a handle on the characters or know why people liked them.
