Free Comic Book Day Giveaway Titles Announced

From the Inkwell Bookstore Blog:

"The Free Comic Book Day website has announced this year's giveaways. Included in the illustriously titled 'Gold Sponsor Offerings' are Simpsons and Futurama comics, the Transformers Animated FCBD 2008 Edition, All-Star Superman #1, Hellboy/B.P.R.D., Project Superpowers and a 2008 Shonen Jump sampler. Humbled by their 'Silver-level' status are Disney's Gyro Gearloose FCBD 2008 Edition and Gumby's Coloring Comic Book Special(?!). This year's Free Comic Book Day will be on May 1, 2008. You can visit the Free Comic Book Day website for the names of stores participating in your neck o' the woods."

I'd encourage anyone to find a comic shop near you thats participating even if your not totally into comics. My shop does this and makes it a party, they usually have live music food drinks, signings etc.. If you don't know what All-Star Superman is about, pick it up its one of the best comics going right now and I usually don't read Superman.

I agree, except they should have picked a different issue of All Star Superman. The first issue is a vague set up for the series' first arc, but not a whole heck of a lot really happens until the first to the last page. My favorite issue so far has been the one where Clark Kent interviews Lex Luthor in prison. It was funny, inventive, full of great one panel moments, and featured flawless characterization. I guess the fact that it never showed Supes in costume could be seen as a disappointment to some, though...
