Quintessential 'Dumb Hulk' Comics

Can anyone recommended specific Marvel comics (Incredible Hulk, Defenders, Whatever) where Hulk is exceptionally retarded and therefore at his best?

From what I've read, Dumb Hulk really works when he's ranting, raving, and giving everyone nicknames in the DEFENDERS. Bird-Nose! Dumb Magician! Fish-Man! Shiny-Man! Floating Man! Sword-Girl! I've only read a handful of Defenders comics, though.

I hope this helped!

I was starting to imagine him as the HULK, but then the country bumpkin stuff in the thought box took me out of it.
HE'S SUM PICKENS!

Go back to Elk City, OKLAHOMA, gutz guy.

Any reference to the Hulk and beans. There was a Defenders issue where Hellcat's mom passes away, the Defenders attend the funeral, and the family sends Hulk and Valkyrie out to get food. Hulk buys nothing but beans - a couple of shopping carts worth.

Is that why he's always looking for a place to take a dump in the Toyfare Magazine comics? Hmm. Thanks for letting me in on the joke.

I was going to say just about any Hulk comics by Len Wein and Herb Trimpe, but the best answer is indeed anything with the Hulk eating beans (which also tends to come up a lot in Wein/Trimpe issues of Incredible Hulk).

To quote Dumb Hulk: "Beans are...urp...good." (Incredible Hulk #182)

You usually find a lot of good dumb Hulk stuff outside of his own book. Defenders is good (I especially recommend #50 where he is both dumb and angry, smashing the shit out of a team of super villains as he looks for one particular bad guy). Marvel team-Ups from the 70's are pretty good too. When he and Spider-Man (aka Bug Man) team up , it's like Abbott and Costello with punching.
You could track down individual back issues, but it would probably be cheaper to get those Marvel Essentials collections.

Was the Busiek/Larsen Defenders series that lasted 12 issues any good?
I only have the first issue, but it has gems like:

"Stupid Fish-Man calls Hulk stupid, but Fish-man is stupid!"

and

"Fish-man wants to go home? Hulk will send fish-man home!"

*punches namor*
