I'm about to watch...

The rules are simple: Come in here to state what movie you're about to watch, and (hopefully) people will tell you if you should. Sure you could always consult Rotten Tomatoes, but this is more fun.

Nochnoy Dozor (Night Watch)
I just got done watching Shoot 'Em Up and Smokin' Aces in a row, with my best friend who'd never seen them before. He liked SA the best.

Uhhh, not exactly what you asked, but I came in late.

Let it be known, though: good idea for a thread. Now I know where to drop in before I pop a DVD in the player!

For Richer or Poorer starring Tim Allen. Yay or nay?
*two big thumbs up*

12:08 East of Bucharest is slated for tonight. Tell me of this movie's awesomeness or face the firing squad.
Trying to find some anime I might like so tonight I'm giving Gunslinger Girl a chance.

Let's see if my hatred for anime dies a little.
Michael Clayton, as soon as Netflix can get it here. Damn postal holidays.
Nochnoy Dozor < expect some stunning fx work, but not more than that. It's not the action flick some trailers seem to suggest.
I'm about to watch An Inconvenient Truth at the insistent request of my friend whose a major environment junkie. I know it's important so maybe this will be an eye opener. Anyone seen it?

Well my friend loaned it to someone else, so never mind. I guess I'll watch The Terminator for the first time tonight. Will I like it better than T2 (one of my favorites)?

I watched it for a class, and I found it boring. Maybe it was the classroom setting, but it's just Gore and his PowerPoint for 2 hours.

No. But not because it isn't an awesome movie, it's just that T2 is so much more awesome than most things out there.
I am going to watch Indiana Jones and the temple of Doom tonight. Just throwing that out there and dare anyone to tell me I shouldn´t.
I recently watched TOD and The Last Crusade for the first time. I'd recommend you follow through with your cunning plan.

That is the one thing Alzheimer is good for. Imagine seeing Terminator each day for the first time - awesomeness.

I am going to watch...G.I. Joe: Revenge Of Cobra. It's the second G.I. Joe A Real American Hero mini series...G.I. Joe is of course a classic cartoon, which paints a patriotic depiction of our armed forces as they continuously defeat an evil terrorist organization bent on world domination. Remember...Only G.I. Joe would dare, Yo Joe!
I'm about to watch Chaos starring Statham and Snipes. Followed by The King of Kong.
King of Kong is so, so great.

THAT'S IT! Which one of you is duke fleed in disguise? This guy can not be real. Right? Is it more likely he's been fuckin' with people in each and every one of his posts? But then you've got to wonder how could one not shame himself to death playing such a game for so damn long.

...Gone Baby Gone, Michael Clayton, and American Gangster.

Any order I should go in?
Michael Clayton, American Gangster, Gone Baby Gone

But, seriously, I would focus on just Gone Baby Gone. That movie deserves your complete attention.

I will watch either Grave of the Fireflies or Oldboy tonight.

Which one should it be?

Well Ben. I'd go with Oldboy, only because I haven't seen Grave of the Fireflies.
Gone Baby Gone
American Gangster
Michael Clayton

I am going to watch Rififi tonight, but I also want to get to Perfume or Leave Her To Heaven. Any opinions?

Perfume. Hugely underloved movie.
Didn't you give up on Leave Her To Heaven, or was that someone else in chat? Get back on that horse!
I have started and stopped it a couple of times now. I am determined to sit through it.
RyanC, I am real...I am duke fleed, and for the last time...I am not any of the powers that be at CHUD. I am a conservative, I believe in a strong military, and since I cannot vote for Duncan Hunter for President...I will vote for John Mc Cain this fall.

I also am a big fan of G.I. Joe A Real American Hero. I have both G.I. Joe miniseries Season 1 and the half of Season 2 that were released in reigon 1. I am looking forward to Stephen Sommers G.I. Joe film and hopefully EA's video game will be worth buying.

It has been a while since I have seen it but I was serious underwhelmed by Perfume. Tykwer does some outstanding work capturing the "scent" visually but storywise it felt completely flat compared to the richness of the book. Which I love. Hoffman is seriously miscast and the pacing is strangely off in my eyes.

Planning to watch Dillinger later today. Anyone want to put in their $.02?

I loved this movie. There was a thread on it a few weeks ago, in response to a DVD review; did it get lost in the upgrade?

Anyway, what did you think?

My contribution: I'm going to go see Dassin's Night and the City at a local repertory house tonight. Can't wait.
I can't believe as big a fan of the man's work as I am, I haven't seen Antonioni's The Passenger before. I picked it up today through a blind buy.

So, so jealous. This film will kick your ass.

Im watching Oldboy for the first time this weekend...

Loved it.

Decided to check out a classic I've never seen later, so picking up either: Once Upon A Time In The West, Maltese Falcon, Double Indemnity or Bring Me The Head Of Alfredo Garcia.

Which should I get?

It's a nice little film. Not perfect, but with a lot going for it.

I have American Gangster and Lust, Caution waiting to be viewed. Which one first?

Although, I'm tempted to ignore both and watch more of Tell Me You Love Me because I really enjoyed the couple episodes I watched last night.
I wish I had dropped in here and let ya'll know I was going to watch We Own The Night. Definition of mediocre let down.

My next two films have been posted here already. Once Upon A Time In The West and Lust, Caution.

Reporting back the morning after: aw hell yeah. What an incredible film. Cynical, sordid, and yet beautifully, beautifully made. Widmark's an astonishing screen presence, and he's surrounded by one of the best noir casts I've ever seen. Just fantastic.

Both great movies. I would go American Gangster first and then Lust, Caution because the latter is definetly a mover more to pander and reflect upon afterwards.

I'd say Once or Garcia. The first is the best western around, featuring Charles "I'll Teach You To Flee In Terror At The Sound Of A Harmonica" Bronson and Claudia "You Didn't Think Women Could Be This Hot In The 60s, Did You?" Cardinale. The second is like a premake of No Country For Old Men from the 70s. Which is obviously a good thing.

I'm going to cast my vote for Once Upon a Time in the West, as well. Stellar flick, and one of my favorites of all time.

Harmonica: "Did you bring a horse for me?"

Snaky: "Well...looks like we're...heh...looks like we're shy one horse."

Harmonica (shakes head): "You brought two too many."

BLAM! BLAM BLAM!

I have a bone to pick with you, Nexus 7. FOR RICHER OR POORER turned out to be a real piece of shit. It's a routine comedy and its depiction of Amish life is far too sanitary. The only breath of fresh air was Wayne Knight as an hilarious fatty! Just 5 out of 10 stars from me.

Ooooh, burn! You gonna take that shit Nexus?

EDIT: Are ya?

'Blade Runner'...the 'Workprint'.

...hold my hand, I'm going in...
I'm gonna pop in the extended American Gangster DVD and follow it up with (finally) Michael Clayton.

Let's see if I side with Nick or The Others (Devin, etc.) in regards to the latter.
Don't know if you've seen American Gangsters in theaters, but the extended edition is terrible. Extra boring scenes, plus they completely ruin the ending.
