Mario Kart Wii - Page 2

It's completely free, the Wii system just has to be able to detect your wireless internet connection. You can test it out in the system menu.

It's totally free, you just have to exchange 12 digit friend codes if you want to play against your friends. Kind of a pain.
Online EA Wii games have a separate system so you have an actual handle that works across all the EA games, but it's still a bit "off".

So far every online game I've played against strangers has worked really well though, Brawl excluded(it gets laggy as fuck sometimes, a very bad thing for that type of game).

As for hooking up, just go your internet section in the Wii settings. If your internet's secured you'll have to put in the code and you're good to go.

*edit- And I'm slow as hell.

Thanks, I believe that completely answers my question. My friend had selected Manual, thinking he would actually have to switch gears, but he switched over to Automatic because he couldn't find anything listed in the controller diagram for such a function. Liquor and MK just doesn't mix.

I will say I love how much easier it is to register friends on Kart than it is on SSBB.

Mario Kart Kode ( for Yellowhare's enjoyment) : 5026-4838-9421 .

So for all the flack the wii wheel got in previews I actually like it lot. Sure its not as precise as the GC controller but it feels more fun. Seems like 9 out of 10 people use the wheel online too.

I think the wheel is fun. If I'm goofing off with friends, I'll definitely use it, but if I'm trying hard to win a race, I revert to the GC for more control. I do love yanking the wheel up to do tricks when on bikes, though.
Played it for five hours today! Online is intense as hell. I'm using the Wii remote and nunchuks and I'm liking those.
Hurried home, beat the first 2 Grand Prix Cups, and played online. Let me just take a brief pause to give out my friend code: 1504-6124-7407

So far I've had a blast. Online play is much easier than I thought it would be.
Got it on the way home tonight. I've beaten one cup, and played online for an hour or so with the one Friend I have so far. The matchmaking with Friends is SO MUCH BETTER than Brawl. PLUS, you can send an invite to friends on your main Wii Friends List, which is great. When I got home, I had a message on my Wii Message Board with an invite from my buddy. Once I had the game installed, I just opened up that invite again, and it took care of business. Nice work, Nintendo. Having people on your FList is finally useful!

I've been playing with the wheel so far, just to see what I think of it. Pretty fun, but a little more tiring than a standard controller. I hear the remote+chuck combo is THE WAY to go for ultimate winnage. I guess I'll try that next.

Anyway: 0731-5188-5778

I'm 0087-2740-5789, and I'll be adding MangyK9, Alex, and mongycore in a second.

Random on-line matches are a HELL of a lot smoother than Brawl, fast to connect, no noticeable lag, and *gasps* you can actually see other people's nicks! I could totally make a Mii named Fuckface and play online with it.

Why couldn't you get this shit right with Brawl, Nintendo?

That's how much I love you guys, and I'm not even sure if I'm sold on this one yet...

Agreed about Brawl . . . The online on this is pure bliss compared to Smash Bros. Also, the Wii Wheel is the most fun to play with, but the remote/nunchuk combo is the best in terms of controls (speaking as a non-Gamecuber).

I've gotta conk out, but I'll be sure to add everyone soon.

EDIT: Thanks, Nexus!
Right on, Nexus, you didn't fuck up my Friend Code this time

I'll be adding everyone shortly.

Dammit, I'll never live that one down. Hehehe.
I'll add my code as soon as my Wii arrives (thinking Wed. or Thurs.), and I will be more than happy to be a race-ist with you guys.
picking this one up soon, after that, i'll add my wii number for y'all and away we'll go.

Between this and GTA IV, my eyes will be bleeding after this weekend.

Okay I want this. NOW.

And of course, less than a day later, I'm now having trouble connecting. BAH.

I haven't tried multiplayer yet, but after about 10 hours of single player, I'd say it's better than Double Dash. I've been going crazy with the time trials, burning through all the default ghost times.

I've decided I don't like the bikes at all. I need my wide powerslides and gold boosts.

Once I get the Blue Falcon ship (awarded if you come in 1st on 150cc mirror Special Cup I believe), let's see who can get the best time on Toad's Factory.
Just won two more cups, and the remote+chuck controls are definitely the way to go for me.

I added everyone in the thread last night. So far Alex has me friended back. Hope to see the rest of you fill in soon. Of course, I realize there are other, more criminal pursuits for a bunch of you...

I was going to ask if anyone else was having problems. I got kicked from games a few times today and had trouble connecting and finding my friends.
I haven't been able to get onto WFC once since I got home from work, I'm thinking their network's being hammered on something fierce.
I tried to connect for the first time last night and got a generic "network error".

Haven't decided if I like the wheel yet. I've only played 2 times so far...I may try the GC controller next time I play.
Yeah, apparently, during the hours that coincide with kids getting off school and adults getting off work, it's a bitch to get on

I was finally able to log on and start a race yesterday evening, but I ended up getting disconnected about halfway through. It's a bit frustrating, but only because the game is so damn fun that I don't want the experience to be interrupted. SO much fun.
Holy crap I am really enjoying this. I'm using the nunchuck for my controller because I seem to have a lot more control than when I use the wheel.

I should post my code tonight, but so far I'm very impressed with the online aspect of the game. I've been jumping into worldwide matches every night since Saturday night and I'm having an ton of fun. Of course, when I sign in at 10pm, all I get to play is a bunch of people from Japan that are wiping the floor with me, but I'm getting a lot better by facing this level of competition.

This is now my favorite Wii game.

EDIT: My code 0645-6147-0386
Okay, fuck Rainbow Road, and fuck those two guys from Argentina that kept voting for it in the worldwide match I was just in. That shit's impossible without a GameCube controller or maybe the nunchuk.
My first experience with Rainbow Road was frustrating as hell. I kept hitting those stupid walls that shoot you off the course. Not too mention moron online people who like to bash into you. Though in the end I finished 3rd out of 12 people. How that happened I will never know. I played it again on single player and I'm pretty good at it now. I've got a handle on all the courses though those damn cars on Coconut Mall always screw me over.
Isn't smacking each other around kind of the point...?

I didn't know there was a clean kart racer with rocket turtle shells...

The worst part is that your Miis are sitting in the cars, so over time you build a strange, lingering resentment towards your friends and loved ones. And Yoda.

I'm really enjoying this game so far. Played way too much of it last night. This version has mostly awesome new courses, and It's great to have the analog control back. Never got a hang of the DS version because of that. Even though I get most of the criticisms that the reviews have thrown down, It's still fun for now cause I'm not at 150cc yet. Can't wait to try online.

Oh, and my code is: 2406-5965-2490
My list is updated. Still haven't played it though.
Is 4 player split-screen battle mode still teams? Do you HAVE to have bots?
I just unlocked my Mii driver (finally!). Anyone playing any tonight?
I am done with college (for now) and I will add my code during the week (working on a few final things). I got this game last week and love it. It is loads of fun.

I played for most of the day yesterday. I'm still trying to unlock my damn Mii. This and Smash Bros. ate up my Memorial Day.

Gray, I have you added, but I did not see you online yesterday. I'll keep an eye out.

having beat GTA4 I'll be playing this heavily till Ninja Gaiden 2 comes out. Right now Im trying to get golds on all the cups.
I have gold cups in all the races (including mirror), and now I'm annoyed that I still haven't unlocked all the characters. Blast!

Why is this game still not available anywhere? Is it really that difficult to product a piece of plastic shaped like a wheel that has no parts to it whatsoever?
Apparently not, I see the steering wheels(by themselves) all over the place.

Christ, you should see how many Mario Kart Wii's AND separate steering wheels we have at work. It's actually pretty sad. We have an odd amount of actual Nintendo Wii's that have been sitting around for about a week now too. Has the demand finally worn off?
Maybe Nintendo hates the USA and is sending everything to Canada.
This thing is seriously scarce. I've been keeping an eye out for a friend who wants it. None to be had at 2 TRUs, 1 Target, and 2 Best Buys.

TRU dude said that a couple of weeks back, they got 200 copies in. Last week, they got ONE copy in.

Nintendo? A little help?
Played this for the first time Sunday night with a couple of friends. There was no alcohol involved whatsoever and it was still one of the most competitive things I've ever been a part of. I've never cussed so much while playing a game. I LOVE IT.
Yeah Nintendo just definitely hates the USA. There are shitloads of wii wheels in stores. No copies of the game. Burning a disc is the easiest fucking part of the process. They can make thousands of copies a day. We know they have the wii wheels. They just fucking wit us. We gonna take that from a bunch of Japanese who worship an Italian plumber?

Agreed. That game is a profanity generator. I shriek "GODDAMMIT!" every 4-5 seconds when I play this game, mainly because I'm not that good.

There may be other games for Wii that are better made, but in terms of replayability, this one's the best, hands down. I've probably played this game more than all of my other games combined.
This game has become a huge time sink. So much goddamn fun. I'm finally online now, ready to race you guys and not be utterly humiliated (much). I've added everyone to my list.
Finally I've thwarted Nintendo's efforts to not let me play this game! It is mine! Mwhahaha!
Post your code? No worries, no one can talk smack(sadly).
