Come all ye gallant law-schooled, that ramble free from care:
I'm producing a documentary that is still currently being cut together and is half a making-of for my feature "The Supermarket" and half a chronicle of the true story of my hometown battling against Big Box companies moving in. What I am wondering is if we would be able to directly use the name of the company that was moving in on the town and get away with it, or would we be under risk of getting sued, especially if they're shown in a negative light? I know movies like The Corporation talk shit against a slew of the biggest, baddest corporations in the world but they also had a budget and thus a legal department. What advice have you all?
