I stopped dropping dosh on Criterion once the format war started, and am patiently waiting for them to announce their support which should be a no brainer by this point, but I can understand it all happened rather faster than anybody expected.

Give Criterion a year or two to get into the new format, if it all.

I've yet to see this film but I'm intrigued by the commentary. Do they mean to say that Coppola and Scorsese are on the same track? I really hope that they recorded it together, not one of those usually underwhelming edited ones, because if so, holy shit, that is awesome.

And I think Criterion will hold off for a while on a new format, even after the end of the format war. I might have read that on their blog but maybe I just made that up and thought it to be true.

This was my first awesome giant spider experience. Sure, Tarantula, Earth Versus the Spider and the Fly had their charms, but there was something about that oversized arachnid coming after Abu that really got to me. If King Kong '33 had retained the spider pit sequence that probably would have been the pinnacle of arachnoid horror to my young and impressionable brain, but this takes the cake.

I have never seen this. Time to put it on the blind buy list!

They said they would move once there was clear winner, and where past that point now, for a company that made Laserdisc what it was, and prides itself on image quality and packaging they will surely not stay with SD there whole market is crazy film fanatics, and that goes hand in hand with early adopters and proper home cinemas.

Criterion's cost $30-$40 new. I don't want to think of what a Criterion Blu-Ray will cost.
