Best group of Mercs? - Page 2

What about the group from Battle Beyond the Stars?

You've got Robert Vaughn, George Peppard and some valkerie woman with knockers bigger than your head!

Do The Warriors count?

I think I'm going to go with the Usual Suspects crew, four guys taking down a huge ship full of people. "Oswald was a fag" indeed.

The best Mercs to me were in Commando. Bill Duke's Cooke and Vernon Wells' Bennett were clearly...Mercs. Of course in the upcoming X-Men Origins: Wolverine there is Deadpool aka The Merc with the mouth as well to consider.

The crews from The Wild Geese and Dogs of War.

I just discovered this thread, and feel it my duty to submit the crew from The Professionals--Burt Lancaster, Lee Marvin, Woody Strode, and Robert Ryan.

I'm going to have to go with Walken's crew in "Dogs Of War"... that is if you leave out Tom Berenger, and put in Ed O'Neill as it should have been in the opening of the film.

Expendables didn't quite take the prize. But they deserved to be recognized. Problem is, they never actually feel like a team.

A team?

The Losers?

Lots of new entries this year.
Would THE LOSERS or THE A-TEAM even qualify? They're both more about trying to clear their names than doing a mission for cash. The Expendables at least went on a mission.

Oh and since I'm here I'll throw a nomination to DARK OF THE SUN.

I submit the guys from The Wild Bunch- Pike, Dutch, the Gorch Brothers, Sykes(?), and Angel- for consideration. Let's go, indeed! Deke Thornton's crew wasn't as badass, but Strother Martin and LQ Jones were part of the group, so that has to count for something.

Deke's crew is more mercish though. Pike and Co. weren't really mercenaries. They were just outlaws.

Rarely this characters are good or more than 1 dimensional.

Predator comes to mind as a good example.

Recently? My vote goes to Tears of the Sun.

You can't beat having Cole Hauser, Johnny Messner and Nick Chinlund in your team.

Except for the Sniper, Rambo's sucked.

Thoughts?
Can we do books? My favorite are the Ex-CIA spooks in James Grady's Mad Dogs. They just happen to be escaped mental patients out to find out who framed them for the murder of their doctor. Funny, sad, full of life, I love this crew.

The guys from Outpost deserve a mention here. I'd nominate The Bloodpact from Blade 2 as the most wasted group. Could easily have been the villians for the 2nd film.

The shapeshifters from the Critters movies are fun. Well the first movie is fun...

the North Korean wet squad from Shiri.
