What an odd bunch.
They look like Klan Beatniks.

A problem down in Latin America is that a lot of border areas are rural/jungle (at least in Central America) and so it's pretty easy to dip back and forth over the borders of the different countries. I'm not defending Venezuela here, but for all anyone knows, FARC's leader could very well be in their country and they don't have a clue about it.

Something about this whole deal with Colombia and Venezuela really bothers me. I don't tend to believe or come up with conspiracy theories, but I just think that this whole situation seems to benefit the US most.

Uribe told Ecuador this guy was there, and Ecuador denied it. There are pictures of some Ecuadorian/Venezuelan officials partying up with FARC members in the "jungle".

Reyes location was confirmed by a call they traced from (or to) Chavez.

These guys know where some of these FARC camps are.

Didn't know all of that. All I'm saying is that it's easy to slip back across your own border down there with no one the wiser. Especially if you have so advance knowledge people are about to come looking for you.

Ar

Predictably the president of Argentina didn't speak out against Chavez' escalation but instead had her little obligatory anti Uribe comment. To be expect of course, she's in Venezuela to get some cheap oil after all, but damn.

Told ya.
She is not going to go against Chavez, she needs him.

I don't understand her "oil-for-food" deal here? Basically Chavez is giving you guys what cheap oil in exchange for what exactly? Food production is privatized in Argentina, she can't really give out food at a better price without any incentives to those corporations.

Funny thing is, at the end of the day Chavez gives out freebies to everybody to get their symbolic support. Pretty much like the US does to other nations too, too bad the whole economy there is a complete mess and his own citizens deeply recent these giveaways.

And the FARC just blew up an oil pipeline in Colombia, near the place where Reyes was murdered.

This will get messy.

Seems like some Argentine journalists got out of line according to the Chavizta standards.

Their crime? While covering the visit from the Argentinian president to Caracas, they dared cover the anti-Chavez protest in front of the presidential palace.

Chavez justifies cross-border raid

Bogota (AP): Colombia's president says he repeatedly asked Ecuador to deal with Colombian rebels operating from its territory before he ordered the cross-border raid that has set off an international crisis.
The fallout is mounting: Venezuela threatened to slash trade and nationalize Colombian-owned businesses.
Uh wait ... nah ... seems like the Hindu Times got their Latin American presidents mixed up! :-)

That female journalist above is a cutey.

Well, you know what they say about Argentinian women.

What do they say about Argentinian women? :-)

So they harass journalists from Argentina at the palace while the president of Argentina is visiting. Did Kichner even say anything about this???
I'm sure she mentioned it to him in private, but it wasn't part of any speech or communicate.

She can't denounce him publicly.

The crisis seems to be over ... for now.

"Leaders say Colombia crisis over"
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7284597.stm

Uribe gave Carrea a very long verbal spanking, and with some support from the audience tried to fight back but in the end Uribe shook hands with Chavez, Correa and even Ortega ... symbolically ending the standoff.

Nicaragua who had just "broken off" ties with Colombia has just renewed them.

On and the Colombian military surrounded another top FARC leader. His own chief of security, turned on him and killed him. He cut his hand off and handed it to the Colombian military. It seems like the FARC is rapidly crumbling after a series of shocks. Now lets see what happens with the hostages ...

Well what do you know, seems the FARC did have some uranium.
