I've noticed there are some pretty knowledgeable editors here on the boards and I was hoping someone might be able to help me with a complication I've been having. I'm still relatively new to the whole editing business so please bear with.
I have been working in Avid Media Composer on a project for quite some time now, and due to logistical complications I find myself occasionally away from an available station. During this time however I have access to Sony Vegas 8.0, and I guess my question is is there any reasonable way to transport media and edit information from one to the other. I should also add that all the media is currently as .omf and not .xmf.
I am aware that the .aaf format is supposed to allow for this (obviously without transferring video effects and the like) however when I have attempted this vegas only seems to recognize the .aaf file as a timeline sequence and sees all the media as offline, despite selecting to embed it when exporting the current work as .aaf.
I have a feeling there is a very simple way to do all this but scouring the net has yielding no results and if anyone could even point me to a practical guide on how to do this that would be appreciated. If all this sounds like gibberish then I'm probably even more confused than I originall thought.
