Swayze close to death - Page 4

They aren't too different if you use pictures from the same decade

Pssh, that's just straight up hair splitting right there.

Newfies are a breed onto themselves. Hick isn't quite right (that would be more Alberta and Saskatchewan) but there's a certain sweet natured backwards charm to them. At least until they hit the Screech then it just gets ugly.

I do have to say that Martin is right in a way. Montreal (and Quebec City) are incredibly cosmopolitan in comparison to the rest of our country. But that occasionally leads to a certain level of arrogance that rubs the rest of us rubes the wrong way. Mainly because we can't refute their claims of hickishness in our part of the country. (Calgary is probably the smallest community of a million people I have ever lived in...at least in terms of worldliness)

I actually spoke with a man from Saskatchewan when I was in Sydney. The guy sounded like Mike Huckabee.

And if Montreal is comsopolitan, what about Toronto?

It's a very flat accent that we have. Occasionally you'll run across a Saskatchewanian who sounds like they're from Minnesota or Wisconsin but for the most part we're very flat.

New York if it was run by the Swiss.

Everyone has guns but you can choose if you want chocolate or cheese flavoured bullets.

I live in Newfoundland, and to me, "Newfie" is the new N-word. Do not call me that, seriously. Maybe I only speak for myself, but I don't like the patronizing "quaint" image we have, especially with the tourism industry, pretty much all we have at this point.</derail>

And in regards to lame Canadian superheroes, how about we claim fucking SUPERMAN? You can have Spawn.

SneakyPete just doesn't understand us. Not once in this thread did we ever say that we hoped Patrick Swayze dies (because I sure don't - I love that guy!), or made fun of him because he's dying. Now, the Chris Benoit thread - THAT was making fun of a dead guy!

Yo, canuckleheads! The Satellite of Love has got your back!

Oh, and could someone explain Triumph (the band) to me?

Sure. Rik Emmett is an amazing guitar player with a nice set of pipes who writes just incredibly, incredibly bad songs. Why that appeals to some people I'm not sure.

I tried to find the photoshop of him jumping into a casket off the top rope but instead I found this.

That'll do, internet. That'll do.

My apologies if it sounded like I was lumping all citizens of Newfoundland in as Newfies. I was using it as one would use redneck here in Alberta. Not all Albertans are rednecks just as not all Newfoundlanders are Newfies.

Jesus, I didn't know there were such heated words for Candian residents. I thought everyone just ganged up on the Quebeccan(Sp?) French.

I think there's a certain sibling rivalry* between all the different areas but it rarely becomes too heated. Yeah, we have the language issue/distinct society issue in Quebec but I've found that a number of the Quebecois don't even care that much. A lot of the people who vote for the 'separatist' party Bloc Quebecois like the BQ for their socialist stance on governing almost as much as the separatist stance they have. Martin and Winter Soldier could correct me on that as it's based strictly on strictly anecdotal evidence.

I also do think it's fair to say that outside of Alberta just about everybody hates the Alberta government. Hell, I live here and I hate those fuckers. There's an air of arrogance and entitlement here that disgusts me. But the people for the most part are really nice.

*Y'know the kind where we can make fun of each other but perish the thought that an outsider should insult our fellow Canadians.
Well, like America we have our broad generalizations for different provinces. BC is full of stoners, Albertans are cowboys, got the Flatlanders over in Sask, even the French hate Quebec ( ), Ontario fucks us on a regular basis, there's a whole movie about bashing Toronto, and we love Newfoundlanders, even if they talk kind of funny.

I didn't know the 'N' word was a source of anger over there; I went to college with a self-proclaimed Newfie with the thickest accent I've ever heard from a Canadian, and he was the funniest sumbitch I've known in all my years. I guess the 'quaint' angle can get a little played out.

Generally though, we do all gang up on the Quebecois. Why you guys always trying to ditch out anyway? I jest. <3 Canada. And Ryan nailed it, we like to rag on our fellow Canucks, but will always take their side over outsiders.

Wasn't this thread about Patrick Swayze and cancer? Jesus.

True dat. And we hate them too.

Ryan, it's not a bad analysis. But we want to separate because unlike the rest of the country, we like to have fun. ;-)

And yes, this thread is about cancer. Like our Canadian cancer, Alberta...

P.S. During my entire honeymoon in Costa Rica, where there's very few Québecois and a shitload of Westerners, I've been asked at least 50 times why Quebec wanted to separate...

I love you for trying to find it, honestly. That was probably one of my favorite threads back when I first started posting. Did you find the thread intact after the revamp, or were just the images gone?

Every fuckin' year at the Stampede I see some moron talking to a Quebecois and asking them the same thing. Hey, I gotta a crazy idea why don't you stop acting like an ignorant inbred buffoon and treat this person like any other visitor and maybe that's one less person who'll think we're all low class, ill mannered jack asses.

And they wonder why I still say I'm from Saskatchewan and not labeling myself as an Albertan.

From Swayze, to cancer, to Canada, to Chris Benoit.

I love CHUD.

Yeah, but Benoit was a "great" wrestler...

I beg to differ, sir. Remember, there was a time when you had to have a cardboard box filled with horribly dubbed VHS tapes of porn. Now all you need is a computer with a good connection.

Thus, the internet is awesome.

I think we both missed the cardboard box filled with horribly dubbed VHS tapes of porn boat, unless you had such a box when you were like 10. The closest time I remember is back when people had to actively search for porn on the internet. Now it arrives straight to my spam email filter 20 times a day, in little pop up windows that spawn more pop up windows when I try to close them.. as banners on any website where you can download anything.

Blessed times, my friend.

Also: That last Benoit picture is amazing.

That Benoit leaping from the top rope into the casket is one of my favorites. Bless you for resurrecting it.

Best Week Ever compiled the The Top 20 Stupid Faces Made By Patrick Swayze in Ghost. I'm in agreement with the author that #8 is indeed the best, followed by #3 stink-face.
#11 - Butt-face?

Sure hope he makes it. If not I'll make sure to blow a great big snot bubble in his honor as I cry my heart out!

Concerning the Québec separation, it's only the first part of my plan to make it easier for Montréal to than separate from Québec.
