Assassination of Jesse James - Blu-Ray

Love the film, one of the best pieces of cinematography in a long time, and Warners continues to piss all over it in the Blu-ray release. Figures.

Artifacting is everywhere and is marginally better than the standard def DVD, and the film is mastered on only a 25gb disc instead of 50gb, like it should be for a film of this length. And virtually no extras.

Somebody needs to get Criterion on the case. This screams for proper mastering.

First Blu-ray transfer that sucks royal. It's as if they gave this film to an intern and said, "here, have some practice on this."

I haven't seen Jesse James on Blu-Ray, but it not the first Blu-Ray disc that "sucks royal". There are a few.

Don't get me wrong, this sounds shitty, the film is beautiful.

I coveted this to no end. This really eases the pain.

There may have been some piss-poor transfers on Blu-ray, but I really think this one is the worst, considering the pedigree of the film itself. I'm kind of miffed that Deakins didn't get on the horn with Warners and complain before the release date.

Yeah, a lot of other sites, including the digital bits, are up in arms over this transfer.

I have to agree, I have about 20 blue rays and this is by far the worst transfer. This was actually the first blue ray I have been dissapointed in.
