The Deadbeat Dads

My band which I've been forming for far too long is finally starting to come together. We are a Jazz/Blues/R & B band with a little punk thrown in for good measure.

I won't go into explaining the meaning behind the namr, suffice to say the name is meant to be ironic.

Still haven't decided firmly on a lead guitarist and a bassist, but we're still gonna lay some tracks down soon, thankfully I have plenty of excellent musician friends willing to fill in the gap.

But the one thing I am very excited about is that I have found exactly the drummer I wanted. I was talking to my sister about this and told her I wanted a drummer that looked exactly like Blue from Oldschool. Two days later I found that exactly. Dude is like 80 years old and has been drumming for 60 years or so. Ideally all the other band members will be at least twice my age.

Anyways as I said we're recording soon so watch this space!

Good to hear Bangs, although the concept of Punk tinged jazz sounds strange to me. I'm sure we'll see you and your bandmates glazed over make-uped eyes in a future issue of AP.

Hey thanks man.

I could imagine that sounding a bit weird, it is more on the experimental side, but think Marc Bolan meets Motown, with a hefty cut of Captain Beefheart and a bit of The Eagles and Sinatra thrown into the mix. If you can imagine that.

We're not necessarily trying to combine all those different sounds at once though, there'll be alot of variety, some of ours songs have a more bluegrass flavor to them, others have kind of a Las Vegas lounge feel and others are pretty heavy with lyrics you'd expect from a Fight Club sing-a-long.

Hopefully what we're going to record in a months time will match up as close as possible to that description.
