What do people here think of this one?

I liked both the book and the movie, though it's been years since I've read/seen either. The decapitation scene in the movie is awesome cheesy fun.

I loved this movie as a kid, then I read the book ... which makes watching the movie a difficult experience now. Streiber's novel even draws parallels between the Wolfen and ancient werewolf myths, and their relationship to vampire myths (connecting the book vaguely to The Hunger ... which he later torpedoes when he reveals vampires are actually aliens in The Hunger's sequel.)

Still, Albert Finney and Gregory Hines kick all kinds of ass in this, as does Edward James Olmos.

(Anyone remember Michael Keaton's "Wolfen" spiel from The Dream Team? Easily the best part of that movie.)

Wolfen is greatness. Where else are you going to see Albert Finney in action hero mode?

All his scenes with Gregory Hines are awesome. Definitely a favorite flick of mine.

"They filmed it here because this is exactly where it happened. It's a true story."

God that was funny.

I thought the movie was OK, but the book is a lot better and makes the movie look weaker by comparison. but not a bad 80s flick overall

Looker

The book was fairly decent, working the Native American mythos angle into a far more interesting take.

The film dragged...a lot.

I always thought it weird that Michael Wadleigh only made one other film...and that film was WOODSTOCK.

I like the movie, but I've never read the book.
