NY Times: Gov. Eliot Spitzer tied to prostitution ring

How does this even happen?

I'm not anti-prostitution at all, but if it's going to be a means for income, why not take a less salient occupation.

Everything I've read says he's going to resign in the next 48 hours. I know this makes me some kind of fool for liking the guy for so long -- the Troopergate thing made me realize he was in some serious dirt -- but I was really hoping he'd turn out to be a good governor, and maybe hold/run for higher office someday. It's tremendously disappointing.

I agree that the story here, besides some "ha ha, another hypocritical politician" is the question of why he was being observed as he was. If this ties into FISA abuses, I wouldn't be surprised. Not to turn an obvious Dem scandal into a chance to beat up on Bush and Co., if this turns out to be another abuse of power that was politically motivated...

Using your salary is one thing. Using government money to purchase airfare, hotel rooms, sex toys, or to actually pay the ladies of the evenin' is another thing entirely.

He should be looking at more legal problems than Mann Act violations or state prostitution laws if he misappropriated government money.

Most everyone in my office had a big exclaim of "Holy Shit" followed by "Who is the LT. Gov?" yesterday when this broke.

I'm still waiting to see pictures of Kristen (I couldn't find any in any of the few links I clicked). I will note however, the hottie linked below was 7 diamonds which was the top of the scale on their chart. $3100 an hour or $31,000 a day.
Maya Kate aka Katie (not Kristen).

Most of the places I've.. heard of.. have an hourly minimum, e.g. 3 hours.
