NY Times: Gov. Eliot Spitzer tied to prostitution ring - Page 2

I hope it was worth it. Maybe you should have called yourself the motherfucking Jackhammer instead of the steamroller.

Asshole. Although I can't entirely hate him, because at least he admitted he did wrong and owned up to it.

Quote:
“I am deeply sorry that I did not live up to what was expected of me,” he said. “To every New Yorker, and to all those who believed in what I tried to stand for, I sincerely apologize.”

“Over the course of my public life, I have insisted — I believe correctly — that people regardless of their position or power take responsibility for their conduct,” he added. “I can and will ask no less of myself. For this reason, I am resigning from the office of governor.”

There's some truth to this, I mean the last major Republican sex scandal I can think of was the Bob Packwood scandal back in the early 90s.

And the t-shirts have arrived:

Remember last year?

Anyone catch Spitzer's speech this morning? My favorite line:

"With great power comes great responsibility, and I have abused that responsibility. Sorry, sorry, blah blah."

Apology not accepted, Peter Parker.

Why would anyone wear that? So they can be topical for the five days it takes for the shirt to arrive? Then just look like an idiot after everyone forgets?

They said on the news this morning - pre-resignation, although we all knew that was going to happen - that instead of five years, that he'd apparently been spending money on hookers for about ten years. Ten! And no one suspected, his wife didn't find out, etc.?

I know they're still investigating if he used tax payer money to buy some coochie, but he's still in violation of the Mann Act since he hired her for her services in NY (or NJ?), and brought her across state lines into DC. Yet they also mentioned on the news today that he might not get jail time, even though that's a federal offense.

Someone said on CNN last night (I think it was Toobin) that Johns rarely go to jail for solicitation.

Let's be realistic: if he misappropriated government funds/significant resources, he should go to jail. If he was basically a deadbeat who spent money on hookers, there are better uses for our prison space and tax dollars.
If you can spend $5500 on a hooker, why not just go to the trouble of finding a mistress? They're plenty of girls willing to step up to the plate if you're dropping that kind of cash, pay the girl's rent, get her a BMW, put her through college....

Yes, which is what one of the many pundits weighing in said this morning.

Oh, I hear you. And I think that's going to be the fine line they walk on whether or not to indict him. Did he misappropriate funds, or did he have a hooker fetish on his own dime?

I'd imagine the fact that you're spending that much money for one night kind of adds to the thrill of it, much like gambling. Such a fetish is probably pretty common among rich people/people with access to taxpayers' money.

I wonder why it is that her myspace page has NO comments on it whatsoever!

I'd hit it. Not for 6 grand and the loss of my political career hit it, but I'd tap that.

GOLD!

I thought the same thing. You know, there is actually a service where you can rent a cabin on a yacht in the Caribbean and it comes with a "companion". I'm thinking he's probably kicking himself for not utilizing their services as it is out of the country and about the same price range.

She is a hottie though, where's Tati's opinion?

I'm speculating, that since he liked to go without a helmet on the extra money covered the cost of a RU 486 pill. Let's see if that's the next info to leak out of this whole ordeal.

Ehhhh, the prevention of pregnancy is not exactly the main goal of using condoms these days - she'd better get herself checked. The birth control pill is a much more effective method of not winding up with a baby on board - I'm guessing he didn't want to use condoms because they "cut down on sensation", or that he wanted the risk/thrill of going bareback after screwing other hookers. You know, the old, "Let's see how long I can get away with this without contracting something that makes my dick fall off."
So how long until this chick either a) signs a record deal or b) poses for Playboy or c) does both?

And then how long after that until FOX gives her her own reality show?
Probably as soon as Kim Kardashian's career bottoms out... about 5 minutes from now.

True, I do know that the legal brothels out in Nevada require STD checks on a regular basis, I would hope a high end prostitution ring would offer the same requirements. I'd be more worried about Mrs. Spitzer getting checked to be honest. Poor lady, imagine getting an STD from a cheating spouse???

If he gave ya the clap, you do not take his crap!

No surprise. A Jersey girl. Probably just as annoying as the rest of them.

I've never paid someone to have sex with me, so perhaps in discussing this I'm out of my element, but...

Is she really worth (depending on the story) two to five grand an hour? There are a million girls in any bar in America that look just like that, and will sleep with you for a lot less.

Especially if you're a Governor who doesn't want to use a condom. They love that shit.

It's all in the marketing.

I assume it's because of his office because ladies would you seriously hit some guy that looked like that?

Ashley "Kristin" Dupre appeared in a Girls Gone Wild video in 2005 when.

She apparently shot seven tapes worth of material, including some girl-on-girl action. You got good taste, Spitz!

Ouch. SO not good.

EDIT: She's a dead ringer for a young Jennifer Coolidge. (though, from a brief listen to her music, sans talent.)
Not her best pictures. So the ones on the web were pretty old pictures I take it?
Based on the Huffington Post* entry I pulled them from, those are old photos as well, done for either a modeling agency or the escort service in question.

I'm disappointed in Spitzer, but I just feel bad for this girl at this point. Between those pictures, her giant bullshit of a MySpace, her involvement with that <James Cagney voice> piece of slime Joe Francis (which, if there really is a week's worth of footage, was probably done in part without consent), and the fact that she's become part of a national punchline...it's just sad. This is a girl who's been used her entire life.

*Fuck you if I'm gonna write HuffPo.

Awful photography. You light Karloff from below, not women.
I do feel for this girl, to a degree. On the other hand, she's going to cash in on this, big time. Apparently, she's already netted somewhere in the range of $200K from music downloads. The part that had to hurt was when Joe Francis rescinded the $1 million offer. She couldn't have made 1/50th of that for those other tapes.
I read something that her cut of the downloads from the song was already up to 1.4 mil.
Nothing in any of the pictures I've seen is convincing me she's worth $5,500. Hell, she looks like most of the girls I see at the Shore during the summer.
The photographer even found innovative ways to accentuate her scars.

If true, my sympathy for her went way, way down. I don't mean to say that money can compensate perfectly for emotional harms, but this girl doesn't strike me as the type to be ashamed, you know? Furthermore, I'm not really sure that she should feel ashamed. But, 1.4 million buys off a LOT of shame.

THAT just happens to be awesome.

I'd give her the money. Only because she looks like she'd call the rest of her girl-gang out from under the Boardwalk and cut you.
The million dollars was a huge overestimation. Sh'es probably raked in around $200K as LD mentioned.
She might end up with a million altogether (song sales plus other deals and what not) when this thing is all said and done, but probably not.The fact that she was basically naked everywhere before this really hurts her bargaining for a Playboy pictorial or some such thing.

She'll blow it all by the time she's 26 and no one remembers her name, though.
Well, keep in mind, she was making some REALLY good money as an escort (or so one would assume).

I suppose being the prostitute that brought down the governor of New York will prolong her career, but the pay she gets will start to decrease drastically by the time she hits 30. If she's even still doing that.
I hope her first interview at least asks what her five-year plan is.

Yeah, but she was $4500/night, right? I mean, even if she only saw 20% of that and worked 2 nights/week that's 90k a year. (and I think I'm going low on that).

Factor in 200k for the music, minimum...the probable 500k she'll see for some exclusive, weepy interview with OK!, the book advance, the lifetime made for TV movie...there's some serious bank to be made here. If she's smart, she'll do just fine.

She took money to have unprotected sex with men who frequent prostitutes. How smart can she be?

I already felt pretty guilty for saying "I don't feel bad for her, because she can cash in". I would have felt worse for saying "but she's a hooker, so we know how this'll turn out!"
