NEW YORK, March 10, 2008 – Cartman’s routine tonsillectomy goes horribly wrong in an all-new episode of "South Park." Coming off record ratings in season 11 and the now infamous “Imaginationland” trilogy, “South Park” returns for its 12th season with seven all-new episodes beginning Wednesday, March 12 at 10:00 p.m. on COMEDY CENTRAL. Fans will be able to download the uncensored version of each new episode from the 12th season on iTunes, xBox LIVE and Amazon Unbox.

The face of South Park could change forever when Eric Cartman is diagnosed with an incurable disease in the premiere episode, entitled “Tonsil Trouble.” When the support Cartman is counting on falls short, he has to take matters into his own hands.

This shit is pretty amazing.

I only caught the last ten minutes, but I loved the reaction of the African village when they're told the AIDS cure.
I'm not just sure, I'm HIV positive.

So tired...but must muster the strength to stay awake to watch this...

Middlin' ep.
I wonder if governors, whores, and retarded fucking shows where people destroy their lives to win money telling the "truth" will be involved in any episode this season. Seems ripe for South Park parody. But they don't really want to go for the issues people expect them too anymore.
No classic or nothing, but a solid episode.

"Wasting away again because of AIDS and stuff."
The whole episode was worth it just for "Aidsburger in Paradise".
How is this show still so funny? It's been around long enough that it ought to be a shell of its former self by now. So much great stuff in last night's episode.

Kyle finally snapping over the "HIV positive' stuff was great.
I love that Cartman spent the whole episode dressed like Tom Hanks in Philadelphia. So awesome.
This episode whispered sweet nothings in my ear.
I thought that ep was pretty underwhelming myself, though I can see why the poster above me would love it.

I think it's because they only do 15 episodes a year and all those episodes are made in the span of a week.
Thought it was mediocre until the Money cures AIDS twist. Then it all came together.
It was below average, but still decent.

I'm not just sure, i'm Hiv positive is the line of the week.
Indeed - didn't hit the heights of certain previous eps (WoW/chili cook off etc etc), but there was some good stuff in there - and more evidence that SP is really just The Eric Cartman Show.

And Butters.
Absolute genius. And it hit especially close to home, given the situation in my country.
My favorite part was when I was doubled over and in pain from laughing at Cartman's PHILADELPHIA garb while my partner was so upset about AIDS-jokes the he was close to stomping out of the room.

For some reason I get the feeling that they more or less formed the entire episode around that idea. Someone said it in the office, everyone laughed, and they ran with it.

I hate Jimmy Buffet with a passion, but I just heard "Cheeseburger in Paradise" on the radio and the lyrics from "AIDSburger in Paradise" keep coming to mind. I have a feeling it'll be this way for the rest of my life.

Damnit, I didn't get this at the time. Of course, I've never seen Philadelphia. Anyway, awesome joke. Decent episode, overall.

I, too, have been singing "AIDSburger in Paradise" throughout the week.

So did Cartman shoot the syringe of his blood into Kyle's mouth? Wouldn't that result in not getting HIV?

Every once in a while, the show ventures away from reality.

No, but it did result in me laughing for 3 straight minutes.
If Kyle had any open cuts in his mouth it's probably possible, but seriously, it' a cartoon. You can't cure AIDS by injecting money into you either.

Yeah. I thought it was hilarious too. And to add to it that Kyle was telling everyone they weren't friends and then they automatically thought it was just a one night fling of passionate gay sex.

Britney!

Laughing....too...much.
This is so F'd up so far. IT'S GREAT!!!
Whoa.
That was fantastic. For so many reasons.
I'm trying to figure out what movie they were referencing. Wicker Man?
I liked the Invasion of the Body Snatchers reference.

The short story ," The Lottery" where each year a small town holds a lottery and the "winner" is stoned to death so the coming harvest will be bountiful.
I got The Lottery. I was wondering about the music. "Kratos!" and so on.

I think that was just referencing general evil sounding Latin songs.
Started out solid, better than last week's ep, then moved into brilliance once they did their conspiracy reveal schtick. Good one.
I was thinking the music was referencing The Omen, and the plot The Wicker Man. Still, fucking twisted anyway.

I was sure Cartman would snap a pic after she blew her head off though. Weird.
Lottery/Wicker Man/Dark Secret of Harvest Home all have modern day sacrifices for harvests. I caught a little from each.

At first I was rolling my eyes, but when the sacrifice part came up, I was dying. Good stuff.
Yeah, Harvest Home is probably the most direct reference. Man, that was just, shall I say, mind-blowing.

". . . and spearchucker!"

Was thinking the same exact thing.

I actually found the episode just disturbing and not disturbingly funny as usual

Yeah, that was hilarious.

Butters in the fucking Squirrle costume was so awesome.

But I'm sorry, other than that I thought the episode was pretty crappy.
Like last week, twenty bad minutes followed by ten great ones.
It wasn't as funny as last week and I thought the funniest part was Butters in the costume and his "I'm a squirrel" line. It was more disturbing for me, especially when they are all snapping and Britney's dying.

I actually think this is the only episode where Stan and Kyle just join up with the "wrongdoers" at the end. That I can remember anyway.
Also found it pretty disturbing. Didn't laugh much during the episode, but the highlights: "...and spearchucker."; and, the evil Latin singing everyone was doing.
I always enjoy the really disturbing episodes (I laughed my ass off during "A Million Little Fibers").

Also at the end of "Goobacks" Stan and Kyle agree that improving today to help tomorrow was really "gay" and so they all went back the "gay pile" near the portal.
The last few minutes were brilliant, but every time we saw the headless, tongue-wagging Britney, I thought it was cringe worthy. Which, I believe, was the intent of Mr. Parker and Stone. Well, probably just Parker.

Agreed. I didn't find the episode entertaining at all until the big conspiracy was revealed.
I didn't laugh out loud while watching this episode, but it certainley gets points for pure "what the fuck did I just watch?" factor.
