South Park Season 12 - Page 9

I liked the prissy musical obsessed dad who wouldn't let his kid play basketball, because it seemed to be poking fun at the mean-spirited sports-obsessed jock dads in movies, TV and such who get SO ANGRY when their son expresses an interest in art, or dance or the ballet or stage acting or whatever.

Yeah, this was the first all around great episode this season. Never did reach the heights of Cartman's "I'm done" rant again...but it was still gold.

No doubt, Craig is this year's MVP. I hope Matt and Trey continue bringing him to the forefront, much like they did with Butters.

Matt and Trey appear to have seized on Craig in the same way they have Butters and, subsequently, Randy. They take the character and, as someone else has said, "elevate" them. Suddenly, they're not just a background character with the occasional funny line, but a consistently hilarious character that stories can be built around. "South Park" succeeds in doing this in ways that "The Simpsons" can only dream about (and I say this as a staunch Simpsons apologist).

It's a close race between kitten riding on roomba and Butters' hiss for the title of "Most Adorable Thing Chris Sees This Week"

Butters can still carry an episode but Matt and Trey came back weak for the last half of the season. Only three out of seven episodes were good and of those three, I'd hardly qualify and of them among the best they've ever done.

Eh, the only episodes I liked this season were the Obama episode and the High School Musical episode.

All the other episodes smelled of taking one bad idea and running with it for too long (and in the case of the Guinea Pigs, for two whole episodes).

I really hate the phrase "jump the shark", but how long can a show turn out more duds than hits before the audience notices that something is up?

Well South Park has always been a hit-or-miss show. The question is whether they come out with more misses than hits. And in their defense, the first half of the season turned out some great episodes with "Over Logging" being a classic. It's a show that's learned to tap into side characters like Butters and Randy while still managing to be fresh and original with Cartman, which is a major feat considering the show has been on the air for twelve years.

It's why I hate the phrase "Jump the Shark" because you never know when a show is going to turn it around. The second and third seasons of "South Park" are pretty weak but they came back and started cranking out brilliant material again. You can't really know if a show has jumped until the series is over.

What a snooze.

Maybe I'm the only one that dug this episode, but I always enjoy seeing the goth kids. Plus the Bauhaus sounding songs "Burn burn burn, burn down the Hot Topic" made me laugh. As did Cartman explaining what happened when Butters came into his room.

As a closeted lover of High School Musical... I can't wait to see it get bashed.

No, you're not alone. I would kill for a gif avatar of Vampire Butters hissing and waggling his fingers.

Terrible episode. The only laugh for me was when Cartman was telling his mom that Butters became gay and threw up on his floor. I like Butters, but I prefer him in small doses.

The episode nailed the whole Twilight phenomenon ("moral, happy vampires"), so it gets credit for that.

This one is being over bashed (most things at CHUD are overbashed, though, so no real shock). There was some funny stuff in it. Not an all time classic or anything, but entertaining enough.

Butters growling at people absolutely destroyed me. The rest was ok.

I liked it a bunch. The faux-Smiths music. Butters. Gaming in class. Butters' dad. "Can you tell me why there's RICE-A-RONI IN MY COFFEE?!"

I though it was actually a pretty great episode...per se!

Decent episode. "Burn Down Hot Topic" is one of the best songs they've come up with in a while.

I liked the subtle implication that the only reason the initial group was dressing like vampires was because one day they showed up at the Banana Republic and it had been turned into a Hot Topic.

I also liked the Goths debating what to do with the 'head' vampire while he was tied up in the trunk.

Not the best episode, but I thought it was decent.

Okay episode, but I can't believe they missed the boat on doing a Salem's Lot parody with Butters scratching outside Cartman's window. That should have been a lock.
