Thinking about it, Pete might be the best British songwriter of the last ten - perhaps 20 years. Even ripped to the eyeballs on junk he's miles ahead of most of the trash populating the charts today. His lyrics are inventive, poetic and often poignant.
Sadly, I think he's heading for the expansive way out. Winehouse mightn't be too far behind him. I hear she has degenerative lung disease. Pity.
