Astronauts building giant robot on space station

From Here.

Okay, there's no way this is going to end well for our intrepid spacewalkers. Someone's gonna hack that sucker, get it to re-program the 100-foot laser tipped boom and we're gonna have an old fashioned "robot on the loose" scenario.

After linking up with the international space station, Endeavour's astronauts got right to work Thursday unloading the parts they'll need to build a giant robot that will help maintain the orbiting outpost

Astronauts Robert Behnken and Gregory Johnson were using the station's robotic arm to pull a pallet containing the Canadian robot, named Dextre, from Endeavour's cargo bay and install it temporarily on a station girder

Dextre -- short for dexterous and pronounced like Dexter -- is designed to assist spacewalking astronauts and, ultimately, to take over some of their dangerous outdoor work
First, we give it the name of Showtime's serial killer. Nice.

Second, dangerous outdoor work. Like, say, "accidentally" slicing through hydraulic lines so the kids inside can't get out?

We're gonna get a movie about this soon. Either that, or a rundown of "What went wrong" on the Discovery Channel.

Wait, what could they possibly need a lumberjack robot in space for? Maybe it just pours delicious zero-g maple syrup on their pancakes.

But if it's zero-g, it'll never actually hit the pancakes. Flaw!

You could somersault into the syrup with your pancakes. WIN!

Silly Lisa, it's a Canadian robot, remember? Our gravities are measured via the metric system. So our zero-g syrup can still find it's way onto pancakes. I'd go into the mathematics of it, but I'm afraid it would just be confusing to someone who works in miles and farenheight.

What do you think we are, a bunch of hoosiers?
