Tornado survivors

Anyone hit hard by the tornado last night? I was supposed to see a show at Dad's Garage Theater, but three transformers (and not the giant robot kind) gave up the ghost just outside the theater. Didn't know the extent of the damage until I got back to Decatur and turned on the news.

It looks like the tornado was making a b-line for my apartment off Edgewood but then made a hard right and hit Cabbagetown instead. I had no power until this morning but no damage this far down. The commute into downtown on Edgewood on Monday may be challenging.

I've had 2 batches of hard rain w/ hail in the past 24 hours, but nothing else. No twisters over here in Poncey-Highland.

I drove into Atlanta today for They Might Be Giants (which was awesome!) and Funny Games and didn't see much. We noticed a severely fucked up old billboard that looked like it had been force-ably raped.

Did the giant glass-paneled cylindrical skyscraper lose window-panes though? It sure looked like it from 75.

That's the Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel. I haven't been downtown since the storm, so I'm not sure if it lost a lot of windows, but when I saw a brief video on the news it sure looked like a large hotel was missing a lot of windows. The shot was zoomed in too close for me to identify the building.

Went to see a concert at the Masquerade Sat night. Fortunately, no hostile weather encountered.

The picture I saw was of the Omni hotel/CNN Center, which lost a lot of windows. The Peachtree Plaza also suffered damage, though it doesn't look to be as extensive.

If you search for the tags "atlanta tornado" on Flickr you'll find more than 3,500 photos.

Wait, did he mean that Cabbagetown or this one?

I just need to say that, Atlanta has awesome neighborhood names!

Cabbagetown, Druid Hills, Mechanicsville, SoNo, Sandtown, Little Five Points

This place sucks in comparison! SUCKS!
