After the FLU

did anyone else get the FLU besides me?

I was out of work for 4 days last week. My wife was out for 5 days. The only thing that saved me was TAMIFLU.

I forgot how freakin' awful the FLU was.. hell I even had my stupid Flu shot.

this is just a warning, if you know somebody who has it, stay the hell away, because you DO NOT WANT.

Why do people who get flu shots complain when they get the flu? IT'S CALLED A FLU SHOT, FOLKS!

The shot is developed for a certain strain. You won't get that strain, you however have a chance of getting a mutated flu.

I must have had the flu's bitchy little sister, or I just have a faster recoup system. I had aches and a bad sore throat last Thursday, and went through bouts of feeling fine to feeling like crap from Friday until Monday. Blew some disturbing alien lifeforms out of my nose Saturday, did a lot of coughing, felt pretty feverish, the chills one night and the sweats another, coughomitted last night. More often than not during those days I felt fine. Sleeping not so much. Today I sound like I'm a career multi pack a day smoker, but other than that I feel fine.

And everyone knows the flu shot is a mass conspiracy. Don't blame me when you turn into an OMAC.

I had a bitch of sore throat when I got back from Sydney, I suspect from the plane ride back and that lasted about a week.

Be careful. I had something when I was 15 called 'Walking pneumonia" that sounds a lot like that. My temp actually went BELOW 98.6, so my folks rushed me to the ER, and I got the diagnosis there. I was told this is even more dangerous than regular pneunomia in some cases, because you don't realize you have pneumonia and don't take it easy enough, enabling it to fuck your system up. i suggest if you're not feeling substantially better w/ina week after you contracted this illness, you may want to consult a Dr.

I got the flu as well. I missed 4 days of class in the last week of classes because of it....and then on top of that, when I went back to class (after having emailed all my professors to tell them I was sick after I first missed a day)....I found out that my biology professor had not kept me in the class like he said he would, but he had in fact given me an automatic F...a fucking F. This with 2 days of class left in the quarter, one of which was the final exam. So...there went the GPA

I'm always afraid of catching the flu from customers at work. Luckily, most of my customers are old people and they hole themselves up (or die) when sick.

I missed 3 days at one of my Internships and 1 Day at another.

It sucked sooooo bad.

But it's almost gone. Thank God for Rest, Simpsons DVDs, some way too strong medicine, and lots and lots and lots of Halls Honey-Lemon cough drops.

Just getting off it. Couldn't exercise and I look forward to reapplying my daily walks tomorrow. I've lost 50lbs in three months with my diet and it really chapped my ass that I couldn't do anything for the past week. At least I lost two pounds due to the starving.

Bowl of Special K for breakfast, fruit for lunch and a steak with some corn/multi-grain pasta/fish with corn for dinner. I walk about 40 minutes to an hour a day up and down hill.

Not to derail neaux's thread anymore but if you have 60-80 bucks for groceries each week you can pull it off. I don't buy top quality meat. The ground lamb costs about six bucks and lasts a good two dinners. Steak ain't porterhouse, either.

My son just started daycare. Only took one day to get him sick. Then my wife. Then me. Cold medicines and decongestants are bullshit. A shopvac should do the job.

Between Job #1 and Job #2, everyone's been passing the flu bug back and forth since Christmas. We're all just starting to shake it off right around now. I got my shot, and was sick anyway about a month or so back.

But seriously, do you know how much the medical industry abuses this? There are billions of strains of flu, and they GUESS which one may or may not get you. Will they work if they get the right strain? Sure. But a lot of people that get flu shots also show flu-like symptoms as a side effect, anyway. You're better off taking care of yourself with vitamins and eating well.

I understand cases of the elderly and such, but there really isn't any reason for a healthy person to get a flu shot.
