Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian

Hey- I did a search function but hadn't seen a thread made yet on Prince Caspian. Was just seeing if there was any other fans on the board that were looking forward to the movie? I'm definitely excited for it, especially the epic battle scenes! From what I've read, it's supposed to have a "darker" feel to it. so that should be awesome.

Anyone else looking forward to this movie?

To be honest, seeing the trailer, I was surprised at the emphasis on out-and-out violence. Looks like a fantasy war movie- which is preferrable to the first film's sanctimonious bullshit.

The trailer looks good, but I said the same thing about THE LION, THE WITCH, AND THE WARDROBE and that movie was pungent ass.

I doubt this will be any more mature than the first. Same target group. Remember how the first emphasized on a huge "battle", on those fighting scenes etc? The Narnia massive battle showdown went on for about 2 mins, rated PG.

The first movie was okay, in my book. It wasn't anywhere near greatness and lacked soild direction, but I still came out thinking that enough of it worked. I'll probably never watch it again, though.

The trailer for this new one does look pretty good.

The book is the same way. Narnia is a far less pleasant place than they left it at the end of Wardrobe. It's reminiscent of Europe after the fall of Rome.

Yea I think the trailers look pretty awesome. Darker and more action then the first one. Heres a link to a behind the scenes feature. I think it does a great job of showing the detail that goes in to making the movie.

What's really wrong with a PG rated battle scene. Kids do deserve some fantasy movies once in a while.

I think the film will be plenty exciting with a PG rating (they haven't officially announced the rating of Caspian, I don't think.) But I just looked and The Lord Of The Rings movies were PG-13, and those were plenty exciting. I'm sure the battle scenes in Caspian won't disappoint.

If they're anything like the ones in WARDROBE, they will be. You can't show people getting turned to stone in a PG movie nowadays? Please.

Narnia is my favorite series because of the positive portrayal of jesus by a talking lion.

Here is a little behind the scene's blurb from Rotten Tomatoes. The part that got me excited was,

"In Prince Caspian, the magic has gone from Narnia, because it's been taken over by greedy, ambitious humans, so it's going to be much darker, and while The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe was almost a fairytale story, this is much more of a summer action movie. "

That's good to know and something to really look forward to!

This post reads like it came from the Rotten Tomatoes boards.

Not to nitpick PhishMan, but it appears you are equating a "darker" feel (you did use the word in 3 of your 4 posts) with a better movie. Care to explain how you made this jump in logic?

Personally, I don't expect this to be any less boring than the first movie.

The only thing I liked about Wardrobe was the score. The rest of the time I was just bored.

Ha, yeah, it’s definitely the biggest thing I’m looking forward to.

I guess it just has to do with my personality, I personally love it when a fantasy epic skews a little more towards the sinister side. I definitely felt that way with Fellowship of the Rings and The Two Towers, and hell even Empire Strikes Back vs. original star wars. I just find the portrayal of evil especially compelling, can’t really explain it beyond that.

Tilda Swinton was fucking awesome in Wardrobe which was an otherwise mediocre film and that's being generous. No Tilda in this one =No Point. The kids were bland as fuck, if I ran over one in the street I woudlnt know who they were.

I've tried on three seperate occasions to watch the first movie when it comes on Encore.

I always fail to get through the first half-hour. It almost puts me in a near-coma.
