I saw The Raveonettes live last saturday. I was very excited, I'd been waiting to see them for a while. They're one of my favorite bands from these past few years.
The venue was very small so we were real close to them wich was pretty cool. The big letdown is that the sound was very bad. We could hardly make out the voices. There were only three band members on stage: Sune Rose Wagner and Sharin Foo who were both playing guitar and a drummer who played standing up. I felt the richness of their sound was lost without a bass player. Also, and this was also the way I felt after seeing the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, how do you fuck up the sound for a professional three piece band?
Another strange thing was that they didn't even have roadies. They schlepped (thank you Guitar Hero) their own instruments on and off the stage. I would have thought they were a big enough band to have roadies.
I was disappointed that they only played four songs from Pretty in Black and two of those were in the obligatory encore. Still, I was surprised they did do an encore. The band looked extremely tired, especially Wagner.
A small and unimportent detail: Wagner was wearing an Atari Teenage Riot t-shirt wich I thought was cool.
