Resident Evil 4 to 360/PS3?

Thread Starter
Man, if this game has achievements, I might end up playing through it a 3rd time (GameCube, Wii, 360). I'm so ashamed, but it's such a fantastic game:

Hahaha, oh man. Capcom loves to re-release Resident Evil games almost to the point of self parody, and shows no signs of stopping now, if rumors are to be believed. According to a poster at The Horror, Resident Evil 4: Classic Edition could be hitting the Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles before long.

According to the sketchy details, the game would feature series obscurity Hunk more than ever before, possibly giving him his own scenario in a manner similar to Ada Wong's sub-plot on the PS2/PC/Wii version of the game.

At the moment this is pure rumor, but given Capcom's fetish for porting Resident Evil games, and the fact that Xbox owners have thus far gone without a version of Resident Evil 4, it's not far at all from the realm of believability. When it comes to Capcom and Resi, rumors of them NOT working on a port seem far less likely.

We shall see, though. April Fool's Day is right around the corner, after all.

[Update: The rumor has been quasi-shot down, though not completely. Capcom says there are "no current plans" but we are free to "believe what [we] will." -- Thanks for the tip, Power-Glove]

I don't own a Wii. If they juice up the graphics, and the price is right (read: $20), I wouldn't mind taking the piss.

If they give it a nice next-gen treatment on the 360, and add some additional content, I could easily see myself picking it up again, if nothing else as a refresher course before RE5 hits.

I would be really happy to see this on the 360. I played it for the Gamecube for a level or so but I really would like to get to play the whole thing.

I replayed this on gamecube alittle over a month ago at work and no way would i mind playing through it again on 360. This game just doesnt get old.

Remember when this was a GameCube exclusive? This is the least exclusive game in the history of exclusive games.

That said, bring it on. This is a game everyone should play, and I'd love to see it in HD with good textures(at the very least).

I would love to RE4 on the 360. I'd probably pay full price for updated graphics and additional content.

I'd love it even more if they put it on the PSP, though.

You know what would be nice? An update on Resident Evil 5. I'd buy it if it had some new footage* or even a demo of RE5 (along with being reasonably priced). That is, if turns out to be true.

*This doesn't count, Capcom.

The big deal with the exclusivity thing is that Capcom didn't want their pride and joy to get raped downgrading it for the PS2. The Gamecube version, while it still sold well, wasn't enough to justify the exclusivity, and they almost had no choice but to port it over. They had no problem with the Wii port because they could do new shit with the controller. I'd imagine special features, getting the chance to show off their RE5 graphics engine, not to mention making a little bit of cash on the side while that game's in development would be sufficient justification for a 360 port.

Five versions? Come on.

It would also be a perfect place to sneak in a RE5 demo(or just insane amounts of RE5 advertising, most likely).

*edit- Replying to Justin.

SIX. It was ported to the PC too. RE4 is Capcom's new Street Fighter II.

Resi 4 was awesome in 480 progressive, can only dream how sexy it'll be at the higher numbers.

The PSP versions controls could potentially kill people.

I disagree. The second thumbstick was barely even used in the PS2 and GC versions. The RE4 engine is the best fit for the PSP's controls, evah.

Admittedly Syphon Filter's pulled off the third person controls nicely.

Every thread about this game makes it shine that much brighter high atop my pile of shame.

It was rather awesome. I feel bad inside knowing i'd pay to have an updated version.

I think they'd be better served spending their time hiring a PR firm to deal with the racism-shitstorm RE5 will generate. Nobody gives a turd about los plagos infected Spaniards.

I don't know ... doesn't Haiti's semi-historical voodoo fascination blend nicely into the zombie genre?
