Teeth - Page 2

Well I didn't laugh. So I suppose your case is that it's an ineffective comedy rather than an ineffective horror film.

Well, whatever, then. Similarly, I think you've completely misunderstood the film, but so be it.

As for the tone, (again, IMO) it came across as a black comedy in the vein of Lucky McKee's MAY, Henenlotter's stuff, or an ep of TALES FROM THE CRYPT. For me, it's probably the way the actors played their roles and the highly bizarre circumstances. Not a knee-slapping Zucker Bros flick, but I found it amusing, as well as gruesome.

I haven't seen this movie yet, but going by what I've read about it here & elsewhere, this is EXACTLY the kind of vibe I was getting, Way to articulate, DM8 (hey, that kind o' rhymed!). Since TFTC was right up my alley, this is something I'll check out evenetually. Few eps of TFTC - if any - were exactly original pieces of workmanship as far as plot goes, and most of the acting was adequate at best (although the FX were usually pretty good). BUt they were & remain a guilty pleasure to many of us, myself invcluded. Viewed in the same way, while far from being a great film (& I don't for a minute expect it will be), "Teeth" can possibly be a lot of fun.

Would have been funnier if it had been called cavity.

Surprising. I went in thinking I was going to get Jess Franco and ended up with Joe Dante. Regardless of the subject matter, it really reminded me of an Amblin horror comedy. It's not a qualitative statement, I was just surprised they chose to go that direction.

It's certainly not what the trailers wanted people to expect.

I went in completely blind. No trailers, no full reviews, no reading the thread. Just the synopsis.

It's not that bad. Weixler is fantastic; she's the glue. The script needed some work, but I kind of liked how undeveloped many of the secondary characters were - helped create a bigger distance between Dawn (very accurate name, by the way) and her friends.

The step-brother was a little too over-the-top, but I got some good laughs out of him by the end.
