Chewer use of the word 'hipster' - Page 2

No, Graynadian's wrong. Hipster is a very specific subculture, not an attitude. Every subculture has people that fit his definition, they're not hipsters.

Some dude was dancing barefoot last night at Awesometown. Do not want. It's all about getting laid though, so whatever, but they're always the dudes who ironically dance. That's so much of the hipster thing though "look at how crappy white people are."

Dude hipsters annoy me, but I don't give a crap about girl hipsters, though, admittedly. Either I want to sleep with them or I don't.

For example:

Guys who wear nothing but Bape and other high-end urban brands = Hypebeasts, the hipsters of that scene.

Kids in Bape make me rofl, I don't know why. I guess because it's so faux cool. They sell that shit in Target yet?

So you've gone from Hoodies to Cardigans? Jesus, you're addictions are escalating aren't they Vader?
That's really the part that stings me a little, I don't own any Bape but I do own other articles of clothing that I've paid much more than I should have and know that in 8 or so years they'll just be dusty clothes I don't wear/want/fit anymore.

But hey, some of you wore Zubaz pants and got laid. I can wear an outrageous hoodie now and then too, right?
Cardigans are pretty great, actually, especially if you work in an office with widely varying temperatures.
I had to look up Bape. A Bathing Ape? Who comes up with this?

I still wear clothes that I bought almost a decade ago. Thankfully they don't apply to the hipster image.

Also, clothes and caps that have that "worn" look. Man, what the fuck?

Indeed.

EDIT: I have plenty o' relatives who wear trucker caps, ski vests, and Members Only jackets, drink PBR, and sport 70s-issue facial hair. Introducing one of them to a real hipster would = awesome.

You and me both man. You and me both. I just saw some meathead at the gym with them and I was serious frightened.

Although I cop to spending more on certain clothes than I should also (which is a very rare thing), I admit to spending $60 on a t-shirt in Sydney. So I'm not claiming innocence here.

Zubaz never went away because of ex bodybuilders and pro wrestlers.

Awesometown is an organization that throws parties. They take over my bar twice a month.

Stills from their events here:

Yeah, we said that as kids. But in the hipster thread, I took it to mean she wanted to do a bump in the bathroom.

Wait, was he serious? Hipsters don't watch The Office.

We're only mere months away from the return of DayGlo.

Then we'll have ungodly combinations like DayGlo Crocs with Zubaz.
I wear hipster sneakers, according to the bingo card, which sucks.

I am of the opinion that hipsters are just dorks with good marketing.

Ironic dancing on display.

Everyone in those pictures could effectively be in American Aprarel ads.

No, hipsters are just dorks who are into music instead of Magic: The Gathering.

That being said, um, bingo!
True, they don't look like they haven't bathed in five days nor held against their will.
Not that I have but I've heard it's incredibly easy to steal at American Apparel.

I bookmarked this.

Thank you for the glorious slice of culture.

When I saw The Foals live the singer explained how he didn't like to dance but management had insisted on it to reach a certain market, he referred to it as his hipster douchebag dance. You can see a little bit of it here

Hipsters tend to be people with artistic intentions who aren't all that artistic. They tend to be fashionable in their horribleness. I think - with the collapse of jock culture, etc. etc. it's the most modern way to attract a mate without falling victim to the social stigma of being a Republican.

Well in a way their hipness comes from the way that they sell both themselves and others on the notion that their lifestyle is cooler than others. A guy in 70's sneakers, Cheap Mondays, a cardigan, and a t-shirt your dad would wear on vacation that is going to electroclash dance night isn't necessarily cooler than anybody else. He may just have a better way of making you believe or at least suspect that he is.

If all white people suck, then those who know WP suck and make fun of their own whiteness are at an advantage.

Hold on, hold on, let's not deride beards or even 70s style facial hair here. I genuinely look forward to the day where I can have a full beard at work or have a non-ironic mustache. Let's not prevent that day from coming with this negative talk.

After looking at some of the Shadowscene pictures, what the fuck is with the rampant manorexia? I'm all for people shuffling their way off of this mortal coil through whatever means possible, but some of them look like they're one missed Camel Wide or soy chai latte away from death.

It's either that or bearded, balding, fat guys who look like they've survived the past two decades of their life on a diet of pizza and draft beer.

AND THEY STILL WEAR GIRL PANTS.
Well, they could be faux girl pants.
