Mostly I blame Joe Morgan, who, during an ESPN game sometime mid-Summer, declared the Sox to have one of the best bullpens he had ever seen. I knew they were destined for trouble after that.

There is plenty of blame to go around. The Griffey move was completely pointless, but it didn't hurt the team. They've had a bunch of lingering injury problems, but I don't think it's that either. After all, they were gifted the Tigers and Indians both sucking for long stretches this year, they have no room to complain. Swisher has been awful. Vazquez has regressed. They sorely miss Quentin.

In 2005 they won because they were scrappy and, obviously, they caught lightning in a bottle with their starting pitchers. This year the Twins have that scrappiness, and the Sox are constructed like a wannabe offensive behemoth, but the truth is the heart of their order is a bunch of past their prime sluggers.

Carlos Quentin. Took the best hitter out of the line up with a childish move. That or GM Kenny Williams assembling a old, slow HR hitting team. Tough to score if you rely on the HR ball. Ask the Brewers

The Sox are getting smoked. Nobody wants to win the central!

Who can beat the Angels in the National League?

I am predicting a Cubs (4-3 over Philly) versus Angels (4-2 over the expansion team)

And the Sox announcers are still complaing about the dink and dunk hits the Twins get that frustrate them. Too bad the facts don't back them up.

Twins extra base hits in series
Doubles 6
Triples 3
HR 3

Sox
Doubles- 2
Triples- 0
HR- 3

If the Sox lose tomorrow I fear Hawk will jump out of the booth.
