Real or Hoax?

If it's real it blows my mind, but after watching this video, and looking around online at other elephant artwork(Jackson Pollock-y), I tend to think the trainer is guiding her somehow.

However, in this clip:

You can more or less see the trainer's hands as he's sitting on a stool. I'm assuming it's the same elephant, as it paints flowers the same way.

My first response is to think it's incredible, then I think it has to be fake, and then I think either way, there's got to be some kind of animal cruelty going on here. The internet has made me so cynical.

I believe it. There are studies that show that elephants are nearly as intelligent as humans, and one of the few species that is capable of self-awareness. So why not?
