Songs That Are Owning You Right Now, Pt. 2 - Page 26

After watching the "30 for 30" doc "Ghosts of Ole Miss", I was surprised at how this mournful version of "Dixie" brought me to tears:

Just came across this clip from Alice In Chains' MTV Unplugged session. Staley is clearly high as all fuck, but such a reminder that christ, did he have a set of pipes on him:

I like this. It stars Ray Winstone and is directed by John Hillcoat. Reminds me of Taxi Driver.

Right this second, I'm almost certain that Ozzy's "No More Tears" is the greatest song ever written.

Dude, you must be high. Everyone knows the greatest song ever is Beastie Boys' "Shake Your Rump".

I love how this song goes from a Tool-esque bass riff, to hair metal airy synths, to a Supertramp-esque interlude all in 7 minutes.

Yeah, it's a song with lofty intentions that, beyond all reason, fucking works. "Whale song" in the bridge? Not even Yes could get away with that!

My Jam.

Llewyn Davis got me listening to some Van Ronk.

This is awesome.

So this came up randomly on Spotify:

Haven't listened to it in ages it feels. I'm not a sappy guy in general but this song kills me.

I still think this is the best thing Madonna ever did.

Always puts me in a melancholy mood, but there's still an uplift to it as well (in the chorus).

A quickie but a goodie.  Since I've been playing Rocksmith a ton lately I can't help but dive into some Jack White hardcore...

This is my jam lately.  Here's a live version.

This one has been popping up all week.  I just kind of zone into it when driving home from work.

https://soundcloud.com/betoko/wicked-game Yes, its an EDM cover/remix of the Chris Isaak song. It is beautiful though!

This parody of the Red Hot Chili Peppers is beyond spot-on:

Since I'm still on an Arcade Fire high, I listened to Neon Bible.

We can add "Keep The Car Running" to one of my favorites list. Just when I think this band can't get any more amazing...

The solo parts are so great in this, I want to learn how to play it.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this question.  If there is a better place to post, please let me know.  I am a huge music fan, so it seems like a question that I should easily know the answer to, but I was wondering what the general consensus is on this...

For vinyl purists...  Is it proper to refer to the "sides" of an ALBUM as "A-side/B-side" or "Side A/Side B"?  I know on vinyl singles the non-single track is referred to as the B-side, but when referring to an actual album, I have always referred to each side as "Side A/ Side B".

I am working on a small project that is primarily about vinyl(even though almost everything I own is on CD), and I am creating a playlist that is broken into two parts.  In keeping with the theme of the project, I was going to name each playlist as "Side A" and "Side B", but, so as not to offend, I wanted to make sure I named it in such a way that someone who is a vinyl purist would not scoff at it like "how fucking dare you name it Side A!  It's an A-side idiot!" or something to that effect.

I should also note that I am in the US, but the project is mainly UK based, so not sure if it matters based on region.  Thoughts?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

doesn't fucking matter

Many lps have a Side-1, Side-2 designation.... do an image search on google for 'vinyl record labels'

IMO, If a vinyl 'aficionado' is so particular that they are concerned about whether to call it 'Side A' or 'A-Side'....punch them, they are hipster douchebags.

Yeah, I know.  I know some albums have them labeled differently.  I think there is an R.E.M. album that has something like "Day" and "Night" side or some shit like that.  It doesn't matter to me, personally, I'm just worried that people who see it are hipster douchebags and will complain.  I just don't want all the work I put into it to get ignored by the way they are labeled.  The main person in the UK that I am working with gently ribbed me on a project from a while ago when I referred to "colour" as "color", since we in the US drop the "u" out of a lot of words.

Thanks for your input.
